Grand Floridian question

I've talked my sister into going to WDW this summer as well. (Though, unfortunatley, she can't make it the same week as us.)

I'm sharing all I've learned here with her.

She's staying at the Grand Floridian with her husband and 3 kids, ages 13, 8 and 6.She's booked, in her words, "The cheapest room in the most expensive resort"... I take that to mean, Garden View.
Is there any room or building she should request or avoid?

Any other tidbits I can pass on?

The cheapest room just means gardenview and most rooms at the GF fall in that category. Personally, I would request marina view which falls under gardenview. But that's me.

I would show her the old and new GF FAQ at the top of the page in the Resort FAQ sticky. Lots of info at the beginning of both and the new one is active and people will see and answer any specific questions.

Or just ask on a separate thread as you just did! Happy planning!

I think most of the Grand Floridian garden view rooms are great -- that being said when we stayed at the GF last August we managed to get a horrible view. We were in Sago Cay overlooking the back of the convention center and had a lovely view of dumpsters and port-a-potties (there was some construction going on. But I went down to the front desk and they were very happy to change the room. We ended up in Boca Chica overlooking the courtyard pool and the room was great.

We've had really great garden view rooms at both Sago Cay and Conch Key. Just make sure to tell her to ask for a "marina view" which is still considered "garden view". Both Sago Cay and Conch Key have garden view rooms on the marina side. On our January trip if you looked to the right on our balcony we were even able to see the castle and the fireworks!
