My DH and I just returned on Saturday from a week at the World. I booked a private dinner @ the Grand Floridian for our 5th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Oct 26th. Let me tell you, we thought it was totally worth the money and it was the best! Better than spending our anniversary in a restaurant at the resorts or one of the theme parks.

We were met at the grand piano in the lobby by our private butler, Michael. We were escorted to the 3rd floor in an elevator and brought to a balcony thru french doors. We had a terrific view, the Poly and 7 Seas Lagoon to our right, the resort pool was in front of us and to the left we could see the top of the castle. The only thing that was sort of bad was the fact that it was warm that night and there were still some people at the pool at 8pm and we could hear the noise they were making, but after a little while, the noise died down as people left. We could hear the music and stuff being piped into the MK for MNSSHP. That was cool. Michael was the best, he knew when to disappear and when to come check in on us. He was very friendly but also very professional. Our food was exactly what we ordered, it was served hot and was delicious! It was also spaced out nicely. We got to see the Illuminations fireworks, the Electric Water Pageant and the Hallowishes fireworks. A special dessert was served during the fireworks. All in all it was a great experience and so worth the money. It was a surprise for my DH and he was thrilled I did it. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of doing something special or different for a special occasion. :)

I didn't either... where can I find more information on this??

It sounds wonderful... so glad you had a great time!!!

That sounds wonderful! So glad you guys had a good time.

Do you pick your menu from the GF's other restaurant menus? Or is it a seperate menu altogether?

I wanted to do something special for our anniversary and I think I just googled "romantic Walt Disney World" and one of the links was for mouseweddings.com and they had a section about the private dinner. I called the private dining and cake line @ 407-824-2578 and I dealt with a woman named Linda. She sent me an e-mail with the details and I booked it. You tell her how many people, when, where you are staying, etc. She e-mailed me back and said she booked the terrace and then asks you what your likes and dislikes are and the chef creates a special menu just for you based on what you tell her. You can add and subtract anything you want and they give you Evian water but you can order wine, champagne, anything you want. The price is based on what you order. We had shrimp cocktail, salad, I had filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus and DH had tilapia baked in parchment with roasted red peppers and zucchini and polenta. They give you a special dessert that is served during the fireworks. It was $85 per person with a $75 butler fee, tax and gratuity and then any extra drinks or whatever you want. With the bottle of wine and coffee, and with the extra tip we gave the butler it was about $370. Expensive to some but I planned it months in advance and saved up for it so I knew I had the money set aside. We thought it was well worth it. So romantic! :cloud9: :lovestruc
