Just received notice that the "courtyard pool" will be closed during our stay in January. This being our first stay, I want to make sure I understand what the courtyard pool is - I'm assuming the equivalent of "quiet pools" at Poly, BC/YC, etc. Please correct me if I'm wrong as we'd be disappointed if the main pool area is closed

Yes, the courtyard pool would be considered the quiet pool. However it is the larger of the pools and has a pool bar, kiddie pool and hot tub. The theme pool has a slide and zero entry and is on the beach. You may see it referred to as the beach pool. That also has a pool bar and is where the cabanas are.

Thanks! We probably won't be doing too much swimming in January so it's not that huge of a deal but since it's the first time staying at GF, it's kind of a bummer to have a big area like that closed. But we won't let it ruin our trip and plan to enjoy our first time at the GF! :cool1:

The courtyard pool is not only the larger pool, but it's also the warmer pool. The beach pool seems to always feel 5-7 degrees colder, and in January that might be enough to make you pass. I asked the lifeguard about that 82 degree nonsense and he said that it's hard to keep that pools heat up with the cool nights, water constantly coming in with the slide, blah, blah, blah.

We were just there the 1st week of Dec and swam in both pools. We've been 9 times in Dec/Jan and usually skip the beach pool because the water is so cold. But DD is big enough to enjoy the slide now, so we braved the cold for a while.
