Has anyone stayed in this room category at the Grand Floridian. I have a trip planned for mid November at French Quarter standard room. Tonight I received a phone call from a Disney rep offering a complimentary upgrade to the Grand Floridian outer building garden view room. They said the French Quarter was not oversold, but close to capacity and wanted to offer upgrades to certain guests. I have 24 hours until the offer expires. I know the resort is beautiful, but do not want to get stuck in a run down old room. Just wanted to see if anyone had stayed in one of these rooms. Thanks.

I'd take it!! We had a pool view in the Big Pine Key when we booked OB GV, and it was perfect!!
I'd take anything at GF over FQ, though..

We had a GV room in Boca Chica right at the end, near the boat dock to MK. It was the quickest return from MK we've ever had! We were close to the main pool and the back of the building had some peaceful spots to sit and look out at the SSL and the castle. Nice spot. Enjoy the upgrade!

Thank you for the feedback. I thought it was too good to be true, but l’ll take the pixie dust! :tink: Definitely calling in the morning and switching over. I’m pretty excited now.

It's WDW signature resort. The rooms are gorgeous and there isn't a bad view from any of them. That's a HUGE upgrade! Congrats!

The GF is a beautiful resort, you won't regret it! Have a great trip :wizard:.

I stayed in Conch Key garden view in February and loved it. The room was in great condition, and our view looked out over the canal to the monorail. It was the best ‘standard’ type view I’ve ever had! FQ is my favorite moderate, and GF is still a huge upgrade. Jump on that offer and enjoy!

We stayed in GF garden view this year in Conch Key. Requested a dormer room and we had a great view of the marina, the monorail and we could see all of the big fireworks( the ones behind the castle, couldn't see the castle itself) from our balcony. It was pretty amazing for a garden view room. And the rooms are lovely, not run down at all and large. You will love it.

French Quarter Moderate, non monorail, no magical view of the Magic Kingdom resort VS Grand Floridian Premier resort, Monorail resort, Magical view of the Magic Kingdom at no additional cost?????

People feel free to let me know if I missed anything in this equation?

Nah I wouldn't do it. Just kidding of course I would do it in a heartbeat. Monorail alone did it for me.

Hey looks like you and your group will be there the same time as my wife and I we are in Nov 16-18 at Old Key West, look for me I should not be to hard too spot I will be wearing my mickey ears.

My 2 cents

Thousands have, LOL (just here on Dis alone) (hint, there's not a room category at an open resort that someone here hasn't stayed in)
We stayed in this category last summer, super cheap AP rates.
The rooms are not as nice as the newly updated FQ rooms but they are beautiful, and not run down and old. Location is 1000 times better than FQ too. I'd take the upgrade in a second, unless I was planning a trip to visit DS only. Then FQ would be better

Wow! I’d say you hit the gold mine of upgrades! We’ve stayed in Boca Chica and Big Pine. Both had nice pool views, but my fav was Big Pine. It’s also closer to the beach pool. As long as you get pool view. Some of the room views in both buildings can be blocked by the pool house. Enjoy. Ive had 3 great stays there. It’s so relaxing. Love watching MK fireworks and the Electric Water Parade from the resort. The rooms are very nice, and large. Take some time to enjoy the lobby piano and the quartet. There’s also a Parasol Parade some mornings.

We stayed in Sago Key and loved it. We had a view of the monorail and MK fireworks if we stretched just right. Fun times! If the upgrade was offered, we would take this one.

YES! take it and enjoy! What a lovely upgrade! Whee!

Congratulations!!!!!

Congrats, glad you took the upgrade!

I stayed at Big Pine Key, way East end and it was lovely.

I thought the bus service was good. The monorail to MK is super easy. Getting to EPCOT was a pain for me. It took over 40min to get from the GF-TTC then TTC-EPCOT via monorail. On the way home I took a Lyft, so much quicker and not very expensive.

Thanks for the info. I will keep that in mind. I don’t mind using Lyft

It would have taken me .24 seconds to answer most certainly. We will be there at the same time but only with a 20% discount. Maybe we will get an upgrade to a Suite (Just Kidding)
