I have an upcoming stay at Grand Floridian in a lagoon view resort studio with rented points. My question is does anyone know how to request an upper room view without a tree in front of the balcony? (I'm not exactly afraid of birds and things but I have an irrational nervousness that a bird will try to attack me or my family.) I also am worried about a balcony that has a solid barrier because I have read that shorter people can't see over it while sitting in a chair. I didn't do online check in because I thought maybe if I go to the front desk the morning we arrive maybe they could help me. We are driving so we will be there by late morning. We really want to be able to sit on the balcony in the morning and have coffee and at night to have some wine, lol. TIA!!
 
You can certainly call and have those requests placed on your reservation and certainly stop at the front desk. There is zero guarantee they can fulfill either of the requests, however.

Since OP is renting points for their stay, I don't think they will be able to call and add any requests themselves. Pretty sure the owner of the points will have to make any requests for them.

I've rented points in the past and have been able to call the resort and make requests and ask questions with no issues.
 

The best way to do any room requests for a DVC rental is thru the owner. They can make a phone call to member services or use the DVC chat function. I'm pretty sure that most rental agencies will message the owner with your request. I you rented directly from the owner they will have their own terms for making requests. Most will do it but there are rare owners who just want to be done with the renter once the reservation is secured and money changes hands. Calling the resort does not ensure that your request gets noted.
 
Thank you for the answers. I am going in less than 30 days so the owner can't make any requests now. I will just wait it out and stop at the front desk. It will still be awesome!!
