I tried to google and find out the actual date when the gingerbread house is supposed to be up by at the GF, and I cannot find one. We have an ADR for Afternoon Tea on 11/17, and I'm wondering if it will be up and finished. I've never seen it before, and would love to. Thinking maybe one of you guys that goes to WDW all the time might know. Thanks. :)

Traditionally the resorts aren't ready till after thanksgiving, but they have moved everything up this year, so you may get lucky.

I have been wondering the same question....we are staying at the grand next year 11/12 - 11/22 and would LOVE to see the gingerbread house. I have been told that I should see it, but it may not be open.

I was hoping that this years date would indicate when it will be up next year.

I would also LOVE to see their Christmas decs but I understand that they are random each year...fingers crossed :)

Someone posted last year there were there on 11/14 and it was mostly done. We check out on 11/14 this year so hoping we'll at least get to see some if not all of it.

Also, I saw a video from Nov 12 last year at the Contemporary and their gingerbread house was completely done by 11/12. They also have a pretty amazing set up.

What I read yesterday (somewhere on Dis) was that the deluxes have a drawing to determine which of them get done in what order. Not sure if this is true, but even if the Grand Floridian doesn't have theirs done, there may be other deluxes worth checking out. But you might get to see it at GF on the 17th. Fingers crossed!

Why did they move everything up this year?
I am speculating, but I imagine that Disney is trying to accomodate the people who want to enjoy the Lights one last time and who would like to see all of the Holiday decorations while they are here.

The thing is, the Resorts are decorated by lottery and Disney does not release the order and the order can, and usually does, change
So the fact that it was done by 11/12 one year will mean nothing to when it will be done on another.
But they will all be done by weekend before Thanksgiving

Why did they move everything up this year?

At DHS, it's the last year of the Osborne Lights.
At MK, they put the Christmas Tree up earlier than usual as it looks like they will not be constructing the
usual "TV platform stage" in Town Square
that has traditionally been used for the "ABC Christmas Day Parade" taping.
As for "everything" else, I don't currently know of any other things being moved up earlier than usual.

We are going to see the lights this year. Your reasoning makes sense.

I think It will be up. We go the week of November 15th every year, and the gingerbread house is always up.

Yup.

Figure Nov. 10-14, or so, on the house being fully up.
You can watch them build it over the course of a couple of days, if you hit the dates
just right.

(But, as with anything at WDW, you just never know, for sure, until it happens.)

I went in the middle of the month in 2013 and it opened the day after I left (on Saturday).

Building a massive gingerbread house at WDW is absolutely my fantasy project. I know this is off topic, and I apologize, but I just had to share as I know you guys are the only ones who can possibly understand!!!!

We were there last year Nov 9-15. When we arrived it wasn't started and then I think on the 10th the structure was up and during the week it was worked on. They had gingerbread samples out too through the week. When we left on the 15th it was completely done but wouldn't be "open" for a few more days since it needs to set and harden. We got some nice pictures with it!

Are you saying that the Christmas tree is already up at MK? Fingers crossed that's what you meant.

We stayed at the GF last year over Thanksgiving and we arrived the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and the gingerbread house was up and running.
