I had a few questions about the Garden View Lounge afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian. Do they take advanced dining reservations for this? Is it appropriate for children? Is it only for girls? I would love to bring my two 4 year old boys before they think it is to girly to do. Where in the Grand Floridian is it located? Any information or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

It's OK for children if they're able to sit very quietly. The Garden View Lounge is at the far end of the lobby from the entrance, on the first floor. It's a small, quiet, elegant setting, very 'girly'. Lots of flowers and fine china.

It's not only for girls, but personally, I don't think 4-year-old boys would enjoy it at all. I've done it 3 times, and it's pretty rare to see small children in there. I'd consider it an experience for adults, or older children.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll just take my mom and have a girls day. :)

My husband and I enjoy the afternoon tea very much. Not really appropriate for children. Maybe your boys could go to one of they disney daycare places while you enjoy tea.

They do have a childrens tea, or they used to anyway.

That's a lovely idea! Mom and I do the tea every time we go to WDW. You'll both love it. It's a peaceful little oasis in the middle of all the Disney hustle and bustle.

I almost forgot....definitely make an ADR. It's a very small place and fills up quickly.

I am planning on doing this with my mom. I keep thinking it is like the tea parties I had as a child magnified. I can't wait to do this with her.

I took my mum too! And now we plan to do it every trip!

Don't forget that for an extra treat you can have the Slipper Dessert there also. It's an added cost but can really make the time even more special.

Does anyone have a picture of the slipper dessert? It sounds like something I would like to order.

Yes, I think it is at least 48 hours in advance, but no more than two weeks. The cake thread gives pricing and the number to call.

I'm definetly going to have to order that. Thanks so much for the picture!

we did tea for our trip last week, but it was my MIL, DD3.5, and me. My DD did great, and was very quiet, just loved doing a "girl party" as she called it. What I might would suggest, is for DH to take your boys to Gaparilla's Grill and Gameroom (at the GF also) while you and your mom do tea. That is where my DH took DS8 and DS5. The boys loved being able to go to the arcade, and didn't have to sit quietly. They also said the food was really good for CS.
