We are thinking of staying here for our 8th anniversary in Dec. and I have always wanted to stay here but the cost is unreal :earseek: . Give me all the reasons you love this resort, please

Poohangel, the GF was the first resort that my family ever stayed in at WDW. That was many years ago. Over the years we have stayed there many times, and when my husband & I celebrated 20 years of marriage last October, the GF was the resort that we chose to stay in for the days surrounding our Fairy Tale Weddings vow renewal. Our stay was magical.

As to the folks who think the GF might not be suitable for children, I have to respectfully disagree. Take a look at this photo and see how happy my daughter and Floridafam's son & daughter were: click here. That photo was taken during my family's May vacation last year. It was another glorious vacation.

If you choose to stay at the GF, I hope you have a magical vacation. By the way, happy (early) anniversary!

I hope you'll decide to spend your anniversary at the Grand Floridian! It is absolutely "Disney" to me princess: Arriving there, checking in, walking into your room, etc. is absolute heaven :Pinkbounc The entire place is beautiful. The garden views on up to suites are all beautifully decorated and oh so close to the Magic!
The resort is right across the Seven Seas Lagoon from the Magic Kingdom. Odds are, you can hear the WDW Railroad's train from your room's balcony :wizard: ! You'll be able to watch the monorails glide past, see the Contemporary and/or Polynesian resorts and watch boaters enjoying the lagoon.
There are fabulous restaurants at The Grand, including Victoria & Albert's and Citrico's... a beautiful Lobby and Lobby Lounge where you can enjoy Afternoon Tea.
There are two nice pools and lots of fun activities for children, plus a character breakfast and character dinner at 1900 Park Faire~
The grounds are beautiful, you can see Cinderella Castle while strolling the grounds, watch Wishes fireworks from the Marina area, make use of the 24-hour Gasparilla Grill and Games and also walk to the Grand Floridian Spa and Fitness Ceneter and also to the Polynesian Resort for a meal or just to check it out.
I have 2 upcoming trips to the GF - it is wonderful!

For me, the monorail is the number one amenity of the MK area resorts. My last trip was the first time I stayed without monorail access... never again. :>

I also prefer deluxes because the rooms are all interior rooms, with private balconies. The atmosphere is another reason. You just feel better when staying in a beautiful place. When celebrating an occasion such as an anniversary, you want to have the romantic atmosphere.

I've never stayed non-deluxe, so I don't know how the service compares.

True! Monorail service is a BIG plus. AND there's fast boat service to MK and Poly. GF is absolutely beautiful. It's Disney's flagship resort. I've stayed at several Disney resorts but never experienced the magic I felt at GF. Maybe it was the staff who were professional and enthusiastic. Perhaps it was the character breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. Or maybe it was turndown service. Ooh, I know! It was the perfect view of Cinderella castle from my balcony.
I say go for it!!!

The GF is just gorgeous! The dining options can't be beat. Monorail access is fabulous!

My sister and I stayed there last Christmas for a girls-only trip and we just loved it. I would love to stay there with my DH - it seems like it would be a perfect anniversary resort. We saw lots of kids having fun - swimming in 30 degree weather :earseek: and we didn't think it felt "stuffy" at all. We loved being able to walk over to the Poly for dinner or take the monorail to the Contemporary. We really felt Disney magic there - like we were in the middle of everything. I feel more in the thick of things there than I do at the Epcot resorts even.

Beautiful theme, Spa, wonderful atmosphere and the location is great!

Thank you all for your replies, I think this will also help me convince my husband. We visited the GF on our Oct trip and we both loved it but it is so expensive. I asked him if we just go every other year if we can stay at the GF every time.

thanks again for your help.

You guys have convinced me and I in turn have convinced my husband. Thanks I am so exited I could bust a gut.

Thanks again.
