Grand Floridian Cafe...thoughts?

I was looking at various menus and came across Grand Floridian Cafe. I've never considered this restaurant before, but the menu looked pretty good, particularly dinner. I guess it's sort of overshadowed by Citricos, Narcoossee's, and Victoria and Albert. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this place. Is it just a throwaway resort restaurant or is it worth a try? I love the Grand Floridian, but we are skipping Citricos on our next trip in favor of California Grill.

we enjoyed Grand Floridian Cafe...elegant setting but not as stuffy as signature places. Good food, good service. Click on my January dining reviews below, page 2, post 21 has the Grand Floridian Cafe for dinner. Steak was great. The place was almost empty in January (course so were the parks & hotels.)

I've had lunch there and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely go again.

ITA with the others. GFC is one of the hidden gems at WDW. The steak was done perfectly, presentation was good, service was excellent. Even the kids want to go back. :goodvibes

Hi Jamie! I remember running into you at the GF Cafe for lunch last Sept and you are right it was delicious. I loved the cobb salad I had and my husband and mom loved their meal also. In fact, I already have another ADR there for lunch during my upcoming Sept/Oct trip.

I've just joined the DIS but I already realize that if you look hard enough, someone has already asked the question you want to ask.:lmao: I was just going to post a question about the Grand Floridian Cafe b/c we were thinking of going there for dinner @ Christmas time. Thanks for the reviews - I think it's gonna go on our ADR list.

Hi Vanessa :goodvibes IIRC, we were about the only people in there, which really surprised me considering how good it was. I think I had the fish of the day special, which was excellent. Let me know when you get back whether it's as good as we remember, and whether you're doing lunch or dinner. I may try to eat there again in December.

The Grand Floridian Cafe is definitely a hidden gem at Disney, we really enjoy it, but sshhhhhh, let's not tell everyone ;)

We really enjoyed GFC. Infact, I didn't change my ADRs to include it until a few weeks out. I am glad we did. The food was fantastic and service was great. We would go there again without question! If only for the French Onion soup.... Yummy!

I have to agree with PP's, the GFC is definetly considered a hidden gem as far as restaurants go.

I agree that GFC is a hidden gem, BUT I'd caution anyone who thinks this might be a quick ADR. I spent more time at GFC than any other location on property.

Do you mean the meal took a long time to complete or the reservation was hard to get?

We are wanting to eat a GFC also.
Sure would like to see the most updated menu.
The menu on this board is from 2007.
Wondering if they still have the Fish of the day for
lunch and dinner on for just lunch?
Have a great Trip and report back to us about
how you liked your meal.

We have eaten at the GF for both lunch (several times) and dinner and have always had an excellent meal and great service. I have said that their Cobb Salad (for lunch) is the best on the property. We'll definitely be going back.

We are looking forward to our GFC dinner this trip! We had breakfast there in Dec and it was delicious, I can hardly wait to try out the evening menu. Some of the pics of the food [lobster burger, anyone?] look amazing.

Is GFC kid friendly? :confused3 I'd love to try it, but.... and don't give me the "it's Disney, every place is kid friendly"..... ;) I could just see me dragging my two year old in to Narcoosies or Jiko and her singing and yelling at the people next to us the whole time...

We really enjoyed our dinner here, great service, nice setting and the food was awesome

the Café is an above average hotel coffee shop. Your kids will be fine.
