Grand Floridian Cafe or The Plaza

We tried both during our recent trip last week actually. The plaza was ok but the GFC was lovely. The food, the atmosphere and the staff. One evening we were a bit over doing the parks and as we were staying at GF I decided to try for a last minute booking and we were in luck. I wished I had looked into eating there earlier during our stay.

What did you guys have? This will be my fiancé’s first trip and he wants me to get him “real life” reviews lol

Funny you should ask. I just happen to have pictures. :D

I had the Traditional Eggs Benedict

My husband had the Buttermilk-fried chicken (Hand-breaded Chicken Breast with crispy Potatoes, Kale, Bacon, and Sriracha-Honey Drizzle)

My son had the Old-fashioned buttermilk pancakes

And my daughter had the Brioche French Toast (Madagascar Vanilla Bean-scented Brioche French Toast)

The pancakes and french toast might not look like anything special, but my kids RAVED about them. Also, you can add the following to any pancake or waffle entree:

Banana, Roasted Pecan, Chantilly Cream, and Caramel Sauce;
Fresh Strawberries, Sugar Cookie Crumbles, Whipped Cream, and Strawberry Sauce or
Fresh Blueberries, Granola, Lemon Curd, and Blueberry Sauce

My kids split the one with strawberries. They dug in before I could get a good picture :laughing:

Have fun!

That looks awesome!!! Thank you!

We just ate at the Plaza at the end of June and we were really looking forward to it. We totally did not enjoy it. The food was very "quick service" like. We got the bottomless milkshakes with our meals and they were all milk. It was like drinking chocolate milk. We will not return.

we had a similar experience. waited 40m, shoved in to a very overstuffed and noisy restaurant, food was sub-par, service was scattered. we won't be back, either. it was honestly the only ADR that we've ever regretted in all of our trips.

Have eaten at both. Reiterating the general consensus. Plaza is fine for a quick, relatively inexpensive table service meal in the park. The food is just a bit better than counter service. GF Cafe is excellent food in a rather casual atmosphere. I also had the lobster thermador burger. I am a big fan of a good burger. This would be a very good burger, even without the lobster. It's a very good burger.

GFC is very nice but if you're in MK I don't know that I'd leave the park just to go to lunch there. It is a nice respite from the parks, so if a nice long break is what you have in mind then by all means do GFC. If we were to do this we'd take the monorail and get off at CR & Poly to look at the gift shops.:)
