We're staying at the GF RPC in July. I keep reading mostly negative reports about it. Is there anyone out here who has anything good to say? I'm getting nervous and I'm hoping some of you who have stayed there recently really enjoyed it. Please post your good experiences to put my mind at ease..

We stayed there last summer & loved it (although not in concierge). If I was to base where I stayed on what I read on these boards, I wouldn't stay anywhere :( ...you have to put it all in perspective. This board represents a small portion of the guests who actually go to WDW. Don't get me wrong...I love the DIS & can't imagine what I'd do without it, but I take the good with the bad.

It's a lovely resort so go & enjoy it. If you don't like something while you're there, speak to someone. I know I'm not helping much but that's just my .02. :)

As far as the concierge service, regretfully I don't have anything good to say--except that after they completely screwed our trip up to the point that we checked out and moved to the BW, the GF executive offices apologized and made us a reasonably attractive offer to go back and try them again.

We did go back, however not to a concierge room, and had a very nice trip. Housekeeping, view, it was all great.

As far as positives on the GF, they have some wonderful restaurants...Citrico's and Narcooses are two favorites of ours, and the GF Cafe is wonderful as well. We aren't fond of V&A's, it's not our type of dining. Also tea in the afternoon is divine!!!!

It's a beautiful resort with great restaurants. We love V&A, Narcoossee's, Grand Floridian Cafe and Citricos. Gasparilla's is a good snack shop and is open 24 hours a day. Room service is good and prompt. Some nice shops.

We stayed concierge last September and had no complaints at all! The staff was extremely cordial to our two small dd. Housekeeping did an excellent job, above and beyond what we had expected. The nightly turn down service was a wonderful surprise for our daughters. The grounds and pools were exceptional! There was plenty of food at breakfast and the nightly snacks were delicious. Some of the food was a little formal for young children. This being said, we had not expected to stay concierge. We had originally booked the Contemporary and were pleasantly upgraded to the GF concierge for free!

Well, a friend of mine recently went to WDW with her family for the first time. She didn't have much to say about the trip so I asked, well how about staying at the GF? Her reply, "I LOVED the GF. It was better than going into the parks.".

We LOVED our stay at the GF back in 2001! It was in December the week of Walt's 100th birthday!

It was our best vacation there yet. It was our dream vacation!

The resort is amazingly beautiful and so close to MK. MK is the first stop when you leave the GF.

They have the character meals and they have the Alice Tea party for the kids and the pirate's cruise. They have a little beach.

They have the new wonderful pool. They have boat rentals.

I have NO complaints! We have a wonderful Lagoon/MK view from our room. And we had a fridge in our room for no charge.

It WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there,

GF is a glorious resort and I'm hoping the recent posted problems are isolated.

Has the GF concierge team been helping you with any special arrangements? How have you been treated so far?

Have a wonderful holiday - and I hope you post a trip report when you are back.

I wouldn't worry, if I were you. Haven't you noticed that the posts that describe problems get all the attention? People are very interested in adding their comments, suggestions, opinions, support. That doesn't mean that I don't believe that problems existed --- just saying that those posts keep going with multiple responses. There also seem to be some people who like to fuel the fire. When I've posted about a trip where things went well (which is 98% of our 25+ trips), I usually get a couple of nice comments and the thread dies.

We're reading about someone elses opinions and perceptions of a situation. You might not be the least upset about something that disappoints me and vice versa. If I've set my expectations way too high (sometimes based on something I've read here that happened to 6 people out of hundreds of thousands) or I'm hot or tired, I'm sure to get an attitude or get upset much quicker.

GF is beautiful and we have had three FANTASTIC stays there. We simply became unwilling to pay the cost, and decided we wanted more variety. Fortunately there's so many deluxe resort choices at WDW, as well as great moderates and value resorts ---something for all people's tastes and most pocketbooks. We still drop in at the GF when we resort hop. Since buying DVC, we've also decided that space (a 1 BR for two people) is the ultimate luxury. And no, I don't cook while on vacation, but we love the refrig and microwave, jacuzzi and washer/dryer (much less packing).

Have a great trip and let us know how how it was!

Well said!

THanks for all the wonderful posts. I feel MUCH better now. I just finished watching WDW on the travel channel and I can't wait to go. We're not going til the beginning of July,so I just have to wait, wait and wait. I even wish I can start packing now, but its way to early and I need most of the clothes that go into the suitcase just in case it decides to get warm and sunny here in NY/NJ. I don't remember the last time I seen the sun......Thanks again and I'll post a report when I get back.

We are also going in July and will be staying at the GF RPC. We have stayed at the GF before, LV and had a wonderful time! We were actually upgraded from GV. When we were there my dd and ds loved the quiet pool (the original pool), it is absolutely huge! Regis Philbin actually walked right past us and nobody seemed to recognize him, except me of course!! Narcooses is one of our favorite restaurants, if you get a window table a little later in the evening you can watch the FW from the MK! We also love to sit in the lobby in the evening, enjoy a glass of wine and listen to the piano player and the band, they are great. All this said, we are trying the RPC this trip. I have read the negative posts, and I'm not worried. I've actually made all my priority seatings a while ago, so at this point I can'y think of anything I need from them. I'm hoping the food offerings will improve though, as they seem a little sparse compared to the Poly, for example. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

I had a great experience at the GF! My dh and ds (3) all had a wonderful 5 nights there and I would happily go back again. Everyone has his or her own defination of MAGIC and the GF is mine.
I hope you have a wonderful trip!

dg39, I am so glad you started this thread! We, too, are going the GF, for a week in June AND we are staying concierge in the main building. I was not happy with what I have been reading either, but really can't change to another resort because both of my sisters and their families are also going. My younger sister always stays at the GF, doesn't want to stay anywhere else. SO these replies are wonderful to hear! And, we don't really have any requests so I think we'll be fine. THANKS!

We are going to GF in October. Despite my changing all my other reservations for various resorts, I have never changed anything on this one. We ARE GOING TO GF!!!

After staying at different WDW resorts and just came back on Sat. night, I am convinced that people like different things and something appeals to one person would not appeal to the other.

We had a great stay at Swan, but I read someone who was there about the same time we were did not care for it at all.

We don't care for All Stars but many people would only stay there and nowhere else.

We ate at Boma this time since everyone was raving about this place, and I probably will not go back there again. Great service but I am just not adventurous on food and ended up eating speghetti with meatball. Took a quick look at the animals for 3 minutes and left AKL. Not our cup of tea.

You just need to give it a try and you will know it is right for you. I think all WDW resorts are trying to accomodate their guests and sometimes there maybe isolated incidents since afterall, we are only human.

Have a great time.

So glad, too, that this thread was started! Going to try the GF for the first time in October, hopefully, and taking my elderly Mom for what may be her last trip.:( So, hoping all will be well. She has always wanted to stay there so I'm trying to make her wish come true!

We're staying LV on the Fairytale Package. Any suggestions for a good location for viewing the castle?

Thanks!!!

We stayed in Boca Chica (sp?) and just about half the building had a view of the Castle and the whole lagoon! It was a very nice location.

2 years ago booked a trip for us and a neighbors family at CBR. She went and bought the Unofficial Guide to Disney which ripped apart CBR. She questioned my choice of resort and as I had heard some great things about it here--we stayed with it.

Well needless to say we had aWONDERFUL stay there and would return in a heartbeat. However, I like to try different resorts and this July it will be GF thanks to FTP. I am really looking forward to it and I'm sure it will be magical!!

I just came home after 5 nights at the RPC. It is the best Deluxe concierge I have ever stayed at ............ I have stayed at the YC and the CR concierge and they all are good, but nothing compairs. I plan my trips 1 year in advance and have read all the neg comments about the RPC but let me tell you it was great. I have often read that people prefer other conceirge for their food quanty, the RPC offers an excellent array of different items throughout the day. They do NOT offer enough food for a dinner, as some people expect, but the feel of the hotel and the service was outstanding! I had the pleasure of dealing with a woman at the concierge desk named Mejay, she did everything including replacing my lost park ticket without any questions or problems. If you enjoy the finer things such as evening music and fine wine trust me you will LOVE this hotel. I will be booking next years trip next month and I will return to the GF RPC!
