Have you been??

We have booked a PS for this :) Could only get a very late one though 4.50pm.

Not sure what tea to have? Could anyone recommend one? Have you any pictures to share?

I think I might be tempted with......

The Grand Tea - The classic English tradition of Afternoon Tea, Grand Floridian style. We offer you a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, followed by your choice of our freshly baked tea pastries or English trifle, accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine and your choice of tea.

I did it last year Kaylee, we ordered two different teas, one of them being the Buckingham Palace tea. It was something different to do and we both enjoyed it, planning on doing it again this year.

TT - Did you wear park clothes or dress up a little?

Buckingham Palace - Our traditional tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts complimented by fresh strawberries and cream, or a selection of freshly baked pastries, along with your choice of tea.

Sounds nice too, I was tempted with the sparkling wine on the other one ;)

Hi :wave2:

We went for afternoon tea in November I think our PS was 15:30. It was a nice break from the park and very relaxing. We took the monorail there but took the motor launch back, each time it was the long way round so if you are short on time do it the other way round.

I had the Grand tea with the sparkling wine topped with a strawberry and my DH had the buckingham which is the same without the wine.

We dressed up a little. I wore long shorts and a linen shirt and didn't seem out of place.

They did have a group of laddies there who wore red and purple- I believe its some kind of group over there for "older laddies" I think the call them red hats (not sure)

Overall well worth the time away from the park.

Kaylee I wore shorts and t-shirt and we arrived there straight from Downtown Disney with our shopping bags too. We have no shame!

This sounds wonderful. Ihave always fancied tea at the Ritz so may have to persuade my DH to attend the Grand Floridian. Ihave always wanted to stay here so may be a good chance to be nosey.
Do you know if you can take children? My ds(2) would love the sandwiches and cakes - so would his mummy!

DH and I had the tea with pate and cheese and a glass of Fonseca Port - I just love that port - we got a scone and jam as well, Parents both had the Buckingham Palace, boys had the Mrs Potts tea (chocolate milk) which came in exactly the same tea pot with strainer as the grown ups. We all loved it. The scones are fantastic but I was disappointed as I was expecting Clotted cream, it was just lightly whipped double cream.

having had afternoon tea at some of the best places in London, I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the afternoon tea at the GF.. it had the wierdest things on the menu.. and was just.. rather average. PLUS - we deliberately didnt have lunch that day to save room for tea but we felt there wasnt much food. Cant remember which one I had, I just found it disappointing.. (i am always intreiged to see what the americans think we british like!)

It may have changed though as we went in 2000...

Hi Kaylee :flower:

We also went to this last Nov and it was a great experience, especially fot the children.
They had the Mrs Potts tea,Choc Milk (in Royle Albert Bone China) :teeth: sandwiches,Strawberrys and Cream or a choice of the sweet tray :cloud9:

I think we had the tea that your thinking about, the scones were still warm, and the trifle was SOoooooooooo lovely the cream alone must of been an 1" and a half thick :cloud9:

We came from Magic Kingdom so we were in park clothes and felt fine.
Our PS was late though we had to wait about half an hour.
Im not sure if we were there the same day as Charley, but when we were their there was also a lot of ladies dressed in red most of them with hats on.
We did find it quite expensive but it was something we wanted to do,it was a great experience, and now that weve done it the once i dont think we would do it again.
I have put some photos on the Community Gallery of our Afternoon Tea for you to have a look at.

I really fancy doing this, it sounds great! I'm saving it for 2006 when I go with family - I'm thinking of a bit of time at the spa, followed by afternoon tea for just some mother and daughter time with my mum.

I know what you mean. I'm American and I can tell you that most Americans wouldn't know good tea if they were drowning in it. (My mother grew up in an English household in the U.S.--I did not know that other Americans didn't have afternoon tea, until I was in high school. )

I loved the atmosphere of the GF tea room. We had the Buckingham Tea.
The tea was excellent and the scones were very good, though not like traditional English scones. More like what we would call "biscuits", soft and fluffy rather than dense. There is no clotted cream, but the jam was divine. The tea sandwiches were very delicate and tasty, as were the desserts. But no good shortbread! I'm dying for some good shortbread, but I can't find it in the U.S.

The afternoon tea selections are listed on allearsnet.com, just click on Dining at the top, and you can pull up all the menus from the resorts and parks, including prices, if interested.
