Hello fellow cruisers, Quick question, we’re sailing on the Treasure, Western Caribbean. Our granddaughter is wanting to see the turtle center on Grand Cayman Island. Can anyone give advice as to how to go about seeing this attraction? DCL doesn’t offer this excursion. Thanks everyone

You can easily take a cab there. It's not that far and easy to navigate to on your own. There are a couple of different visiting options, one includes just the turtle center part and there is another option that adds in a water park/snorkeling option.

It’s hands down the best way to engage with sea turtles! We kept doing snorkeling excursions, hoping to see one but rarely ever did. At this place, you can snorkel and even hold baby ones. I don’t think you’ll regret it. We took a taxi/bus. It’s at the very end and other people got dropped off in between. I think they just do a continuous loop as the dolphins are up that way too.

We did it back in the Summer of 2023. Close to the port there are shared taxis that will quickly bring you over there. On the way back, we were able to "negotiate" with a taxi that was on standby a retour to the port, via a stopover in Hell.

Just note that the turtles here are often eaten. Turtle soup is a regional specialty, and they serve it on site. That could be upsetting for some (myself included).

They are very transparent that they participate in conservation as well as farming. I personally think the work they are doing for conservation outweighs the farming.

There are regulated busses (vans) on the island, you can walk to the bus station or grab one on the road and let them know you are heading to the Turtle conservation center. Book ahead online for a discount. The entire place is clean and very accessible- we loved snorkeling with the turtles and there’s a great (non turtle) pool with water slides. In all we spent maybe 3 hours here and it was well worth it.
