We are taking our kids on the Fantasy in December and one of the stops is Grand Cayman. My husband and I went to Stingray City about 10 years ago and loved it and really wanted to take our kids there on an excursion. I reserved the Stingray Sandbar and Reef Sail tour through DCL but now I'm seeing some negative reviews online that it was one of the worst excursions. The reviews were from a few years ago so I'm not sure if it has changed. One mentioned that they didn't actually go to the Stingray City area and it was just a reef that they were to see the stingrays from 20ft below along with snorkeling at the same time and they were there a total of 45 minutes.

Has anyone been on that excursion and can give me some feedback on what they actually do (or if it's worth it) or should I look at 3rd party excursions going to Stingray City and snorkeling?

Thanks for your help!

I also did that excursion about 10 years ago, and it was great. I haven't read any reviews, but the Port Adventures description says:
  • After a Welcome Safety Briefing, set sail for a delightful seafaring adventure to the famous Stingray Sandbar, where you can interact with these beautiful creatures in a few feet of water.
There is always the possibility of a change in plans for any excursion for various reasons, but they are clearly selling the shallow sandbar experience.
