Hi,

We'll be on the July 20th Western sail, YEA!, and I have a question about the approximate time we will be able to get ashore on the morning of Grand Cayman. We are taking the Capt. Marvins Stingray tour on our own. The available times for the tour are 8:30am and 11:15am. I would prefer to take the 8:30am tour so we can get back in time to spend some time on 7 Mile Beach. My fear is that we will not get off the boat in time since DCL excursions are 1st off. Can anyone tell me if we will be off the boat in time??

Thanks a bunch!!

We did the 10:00 1/2 day snorkling and Stingray City with Capt Marvins. We were on the first tender after they allowed open boarding, and could probably have gotten there by 8:30, but it would have been tight. We walked off and got a light breakfast, took our time strolling down there and were at their place by about 9:00. Note that they take you down to the water from there, and it's about 10 minutes in the van, so you might need to be at their store a little earlier.

We had the 8:30 excursion and had plenty of time to spare. We were on the first tender from the boat (about 7:20am). Just a 5 minute walk from the pier to Capt Marvin's location. We were there by 7:45.

One of the big advantages of the early excursion is that you are the first boat to arrive at the Coral Reef to snorkle. Only 12 of us on board and felt like we had it all to ourselves. We were back on the Magic around 11:45 and had plenty of time to enjoy lunch and then head out to 7-mile beach. I highly recommend Capt Marvin's to anyone.

We did the 11:15 2-hr with Capt Marvin's and highly recommend this one for the novice snorkeler. One word of caution: make sure you get directions to Capt Marvin's and know where you're going when you exit the ship. I had "approx" directions in my head  and we got a little lost. You need to arrive at Capt Marvin's about 30 mins BEFORE your tour is scheduled to start because the van will leave early to deliver you to the boat at your scheduled start time.

I'll see you on the boat! We are also on the western july 20th cruise!

Irishcowboy, you said you were able to get off the boat by 7:20 on the first tender. Was this the 1st open tender and all the DCL excursion people were already off?

thanks,

We went to the Walt Disney Theatre at 7:00am to get in line/get tickets for the first tender. The first DCL tender for excursion people was leaving around 7:15 and a cast member said that they had space available on that tender and we could get on board if we wanted to do so. There was plenty of empty seats on the tender, maybe only half full.
