It has been about 12 years since we have been at Grand Cayman last time we were there we went on our own. We just walked around and shopped by ourselves. Just wondering if it is still save to do this again? Just my husband and I by ourselves. Thank you

We did an excursion in grand cayman last month. So many people from the Treasure and a RC ship were just walking around and shopping. Looked very safe.

We did Grand Cayman on our own in 2022. Walked to the public bus station and took a bus to the Cayman turtle center, after we did the center, took the bus to Hell to see the geologic formation, and another bus back to the bus station. Spent $2.50/ person every time we got off the bus.

Went a couple years ago with my family and felt very safe. We even did a non-Disney excursion that involved a 40-minute bus ride and boating (snorkeling + Stingray City)- never felt uncomfortable.

I did Grand Cayman right as the world was shutting down due to Covid. Seven Mile Beach is perfectly safe. The other end of the Island (Rum Point, Kaibo) is even safer. In between it's mostly rural and fine, but you're out on your own. Georgetown is probably the sketchiest part of the whole island, and I sped through it because there was a fire going on in its tire yard.

I recommend renting a car and exploring the whole island. Yes, they drive on the left.

If you want to do a beach day at Seven Mile Beach it’s a lot cheaper to do it on your own.

My husband and I did exactly that, went shopping on our own, in January and felt completely safe. Only thing we didn't like was shop people followed us around closely in every single store, ranging from tee shirt shops to high end jewelry. As a couple in our 60's, I doubt they thought we were potential shoplifters. I think it more likely they thought we were potential buyers, which we were. Unfortunately, being followed so closely made us uncomfortable and led to buying only a few little trinkets.

Over the years of cruising the Caribbean we noticed the same thing. From what I understand weather you know it or not you are assigned a sales person as soon as you walk in the door. It is there responsibility to get you to try to buy something. In some of the jewelry stores it is there job to get you to look at items, get you comfortable, then they bring the Manager to close the deal.
