Can anyone tell me if the Grand Californian is usually available at the 7 month booking window? I'm not sure the size of the resort in comparison to our WDW resorts etc. We will be traveling to DL November 12-17 and running the avengers half marathon. This will be our first trip to DL so any advice on things to do or other places to stay will be greatly appreciated. What airport is best to fly into as well. We will be flying out of Pensacola, Florida. Thanks!

There are 23 lockoffs (studio/1 bedroom), 23 dedicated 2 bedrooms and 2 grand villas. I'm 3 for 3 at 7 months but your problem will be that you want to go around an event.

A friend & I have stayed a few times at Paradise Pier, the rooms are large and the theme park view rooms have a great view of DCA.

We love VGC! We rent points and have stayed there several times. I will leave to to VGC experts and owners to answer, but in my experience you must book at the 11 month window -- especially for specific and popular weekends. Studios are the first to go.

SNA (Orange County/John Wayne) is the closest and easiest airport, but LAX may be your best option from the East.

Have you considered renting points from a VGC owner?

Have not considered renting points but that's a great idea. I was just going to try and use my points. Since it is around an event though that may be the best thing to do. Thank you guys!

Who do you rent points from?

SNA is definitely my preferred airport because it's closer and generally les traffic to battle (time of day dependent, it is LA after all...) LAX may be cheaper, so I'd check both. If you're renting a car, it will come out even, I'm not sure what the cost for transport from LAX is, but it's quite reasonable from SNA.

SNA is closer and easier to get around. The downside is there are not as many flights as LAX. If I want a non-stop from Pittsburgh, LAX is the only choice. Avoiding a connection is more important to me.
