Planning on going in October to the Grand Californian Villas...

Going to book in march at the 7 months...

Does anyone have any experience in booking there in October and the chances of it being available...

My husband and I booked a 1 bedroom last October at VCG with only 4 months out. We had wanted a studio but they were booked up entirely. Even though it is Halloween Time at the parks we found the crowds not to be too overwhelming during the week. I think it may be easier to book earlier in the month rather than later.

Good Luck!!!

We go to VGC in October every year. A lot of times I'll try to add days at the beginning or end in under 7 months and its booked solid, I'll wait list and they have never come through. Haven't ever had a need to try exactly at 7 months though. Halloween time at Disneyland tends to be pretty busy, especially the weekends. Plus the first couple of weeks a lot of West Coast schools (California, Utah, Arizona, Hawaii) have a fall break in there so lots of people head out then. But that probably affects park crowds more than DVC. Good luck!

We went this past October, late in the month..I had booked 2 studios for DH and myself and one son's family. In August, second son decides his family wants to join us, so I try and get anything at VGC..no dice..not even a 2 BR. Very short notice, and we found October in DLR to be quite crowded with the Halloween party much more crowded then we expected. October is becoming a prime time at DLR. I ended up putting my son up at DLG...wow..that was pricey, but I sure like how they have redone the resort. We had planned on returning this coming October but because of the crowds buymped that trip up to early November. There is truly very limited windows of low crowds at Disneyland now.

We were there the last week in Sept, could only get 3 of the 5 nights we wanted to we went to the Disneyland hotel the other 2 nights on points.

Keep in mind that DVC has just announced that we can use our points to reserve a room in the main building at the Grand Californian next year. If the Villas are all booked up, just get a room in the main building. There is no $95 booking fee and you will get daily housekeeping services! :)

This is true and a good thing, however, be aware that points needed will be outrageous..2012 DLH points in October (Value Season) for standard view weeknights are 37 per night, weekends 46 points per night (this year, same room same time was 29 points for standard weekday and 36 weekend)..quite a jump and I'm guessing VGC hotel rooms will be the same or higher.

We hope to do the same in getting a studio at 7 month out. Our dates are flexible, but we're hoping to go sometime between late Sept and early November.

I'm slightly nervous about getting something.

I booked a 1BR for the first week of October this year at exactly 7 months. I was told it was the last one available for my dates.

Good luck . You will need it. We stayed at gcv this past oct and we stayed in a studio. Booked at exactly the 7 month mark and was only able to get 5 days out of 7 . So the rest we stayed in palm springs through rci.

I'm hoping to book a 2BR in august at the 7 month window, but no idea what my luck will be like.

I just called this AM at the exact 7 month mark for a late July stay in a 1 BR for 4 nights. It was available. I know this is not October, but I think that summer is very crowded at DL as it's reflected in the price per point (a whopping 52 a night for Sun-Thurs during this time, versus 39 in Oct).

We were flexible with our dates and started trying with the first possible date that worked for us and we got lucky!

Good luck....

There are only 2 GV but they don't seem to fill up as fast because it requires alot more points. We were able to get one for 3 nights in May of 2010 at onlyl 2 month out. Then we moved to 2-2 bedrooms and invited more family. The 2 bedroom felt so small compared to the grand villa. It seems like alot of people coming to VGC want the studios and those seem to go fast. Hope you can get it. I guess have flexible dates and best of luck!
