Grand Californian July 4th

I booked flights today for a two week stay at various locations in July. We would like to do a stop July 1-5 at DL. Several years ago during the summer, but not over the 4th, I was able to get a villa. There is availability today. What has past 7 month availability been like? Have you stayed at PP? We have stayed at the DL Hotel also so if we can't get into GCV we would like to try PP but don't want to be disappointed. Also, are the fireworks extra special on the 4th?
