I've booked a standard view at the Grand Californian Hotel, do I need to request a room with a balcony or do they all have them?

Also what areas of the resort do the standard view rooms overlook?

They all have balconies. I recommend requesting a Courtyard view room - which is considered standard view. Then you can sit on your balcony and watch the monorail go through the courtyard - even as an adult I love that!

Now my DH thinks that requesting the courtyard specifically keeps us from getting upgraded, so if you are hoping for the upgrade you might want to leave it to chance.

Here's a pic taken from the balcony during our stay back in February.

Wow, I love that view!!!

We had a standard room booked in January and when I asked on check-in, they found us a room with a view of the pool and DCA. We were SO happy! Although I think it helped a little that we were dead on our feet after our 14 hour plane trip from Sydney!

YOu never know what you might get, if you only ask politely!
