Grand Californian DCA Entrance Question

We are guests at VGF but our friends are not. Can we meet in the GC hotel lobby and enter DCA even if they are not guests of a Disney property hotel?

I feel like you only need to show a room key during EMH. Is this right?

We are hoping to meet up before dinner.

It has been asked a few times, and I think the last set of responses indicated that anyone could use the GCH entrance into DCA after 11:00 am. Before that, you need to be a guest of one of the DLR hotels.

Even before 11am and during EMH they usually only ask to see one room key per family group and I have never seen them try to match up the name on the room key to the AP or admission ticket

And to clarify, before 11am, we were held up while my daughter dug through her back pack to find her key, as they said they needed one for each family (they didn't request to see my 3yo granddaughter's though.)

Not to moot the question or anything, but during EMH it's better to enter via the main gate. The GCH entrance can have a very slow, very long line.

Tonight I exited DCA into GCH and the line to enter was around the corner. About an hour later it was only 2-3 people, but I realized that I didn't get my AP back after giving it for the dining discount. So I went back to the restaurant, and then 15 minutes later there were about 8 people waiting at the back check again. This was with 2 bag checkers, and many times there is only 1.
