Grand Californian Concierge Question

We are staying with DVC at the Grand Californian in March for our Spring Break. We've stayed at the Grand a few different times in different room types. Last year we stayed Concierge for the first time and had a theme park view. We loved it! This year, according to DVC, there are no theme park view concierge rooms available. We are still staying concierge, only with a garden view.

Can anyone explain where the "garden view concierge" rooms are and what I'll be looking out my window at?

Thanks!

We too are staying concierge on DVC points. From what I gather the rooms will be facing the courtyard where the monrail passes through. I'd love to hear about your view when you return though.

Yes, they are facing into a courtyard which is basically a bunch of trees and vegetation with the monorail running through it. The nice thing is you have a great balcony and some of the rooms you can see the fireworks from.

Thanks for the information! I'll keep you posted when we return in March. From your signature I gather that you are a teacher-me too! Kindergarten for me, and our trip will be during our spring break. Last year we were there for the same break and I met with 5 of my students. It was so fun! I'll get some pictures and figure out how to post them.

We've had our DVC for about 2 years. Have you used yours well? Being from the west coast, we've not figured out how best to use ours yet. We've been on a waiting list for Hawaii for over a year, and they've removed some of the locations you could use your points for since we first joined. :headache: DH isn't so sure about our DVC. Any hints?

We watched the fireworks from the Craftsman Club last year! Woo Hoo!:woohoo: I hope we get one of those rooms!

This is off topic.............but did you know that they are building a huge DVC resort in Hawaii???

I heard on the Disboards and then read the update from dvcnews. For us, that won't be our home resort so we'll have to wait until 7 months out before we can make reservations. It is really exciting news, especially since the cruise ships might go there too!

We are going to try using our DVC at a resort other than our home resort for our trip in about 1 year. I hope it will work for us, because we love to use our DVC points at the Grand Californian, but we really, really disliked our experience at Saratoga Springs.

Has anybody heard of being able to sell your points at one resort to go right back and purchase at a new home resort?

room 6030. We went during the week, so no fireworks. But, it seems like you could see them because we were so close to the lounge.

It was so nice. I cant wait to go back.

Thanks! We usually stay in section 6300-6324 on the theme park view side, but there are no theme park view rooms avail for our trip. I am rather picky about the view  and was thinking that a room by the lounge would have the best view of the fireworks!

Oops, its room 6303.:upsidedow

The sodas are now in a bottles and not a cans anymore. So, you cant take them into the park.

Water is in plastic though so those can go into the park. We also brought ziploc bags so we could put cookies in them and take them in for a snack. Nothing like the Mickey macaroons all day long!!!

water is in a plastic bottle. We took single serve kool-aid and lemonade packets to mix with the water.

Does anyone know if you can request specific room #'s for your stay with DVC?

I aspire to eat Mickey macaroons amongst you someday. :goodvibes

I aspire to have my 3 labs try to sit still in one picture, let alone do it in costume, holding their treats! This picture is too cute! I've been showing it to our family all weekend!

Why don't you go over to the DVC boards and ask that question???

Hi,
Are those your dogs? Wow thats a great picture. My DH and DS and myself are laughing and wondering if we can get our three to do that. Love it, Love it, Love it.

tinkerbellmom1 how was your trip?

Thanks for asking!:cloud9: It was truly one of the best trips to Disneyland we've had!

The weather was beautiful (80-85 all week) and the crowds were great! Some days we didn't even use the FastPass system!

The Grand Californian was as great as usual! This year we were only able to get a garden view using our DVC points (last year we had the full on theme park view over the pool). We had a room down the side of the building from the Craftsman Club and could see part of the Downtown Disney Walkway and the wall behind the jungle cruise part of the park.

We went on the trip with our dear friends and their children. We planned ahead and had them bring an extra set of bathing suits to leave at our hotel for when we needed a mid-day break. That worked great because we just came directly from the parks to the GC and we spent some time at the pool on the afternoons we wanted to! The concierge team knew they were with us and treated them as our family when we went to the club to get drinks and snacks. We had so much fun with the combined families that we booked another vacation with them (adults only this time) for September!

I did the fitness walk during the week and we were able to hear some of the new things planned at the California Adventure park as well as see some of the Toy Story land items (I got to see a big Potato Head being installed down the boardwalk from California Screamin'!).

We did the Blue Bayou for the first time, Rainforest Cafe, Millies Restaurant, and the Pirate Adventure Dinner Show during our week there! All the meals were great (Some pricey) but we enjoyed all of it! The Pirate Dinner show was well worth the price and in our opinion, better than Midevil times.

Between the weather, the crowds, and the company, we had a great trip!

Oh excellent!! I am so glad you had a nice stay and the weather cooperated. Have fun planning for next visit for September. Would you know what the weather is like in August?

I am in the early stages of planning a trip.

What was your best meal when you were away?
