Grand CA late check out.

I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten a request for late check out at the Grand CA. Each time we visit I try and never succeed. I know that we can store our bags after checkout and still play in the park but I was wanting to have use of the room past 11am if possible on our check out date. What would happen at 11:01 if we had not checked out yet? Is there some lee way? Also some hotels will let you pay for a later check out time...is this possible at the Grand CA? Thanks for any help or advice on this.

No, you can't pay for it. And we've never gotten it. It's just not something the Disney hotels can really give; they are always booked, just too busy. It already takes them 5 hours to get all the rooms ready as it is (11am checkout, 4 pm checkin time) if all goes well...

When we went down in February, I completely expected it to be like what Bumbershoot said - no late check out, no way no how. I called the morning of checkout just to ask and they let us stay until noon. We were there over Valentine's weekend into President's week, so it was pretty busy.

It couldn't hurt to ask, just expect to be told no.

You can pay for it (I did) if it isn't super busy. They do make you wait until the morning of your last day to call (call early--I called at 6 am), and ask for late check out--one time at DLH we were just given it (till 3 pm), but one time at GHC they said they couldn't offer it to me, but I could pay a 1/2 day rate and get it till 3 pm--or it might have been 3:30 pm. Which I gladly did!

When I spoke with a ressie CM day before yesterday, he stated that the policy was no unless there was a medical emergency with a person in the room and they would most likely prorate the time. He also said you could ask on your check out day to see if the manager would authorize it.

I always gave the excuse of a late flight out and a little one who needed a nap!! Although 1 time they were busy and couldn't accommodate us... I found a couple out of the way lawn chairs by the GHC pool and grabbed a bunch of towels and we took a nap out there! But out of 3 trips, we've had it 2 of the 3 times.

We had predicted this and did not want to be out of our room at 11am when our flight was at 11.30pm. So when we booked we booked our checkout date as the day later and had our room for the whole day and into early evening before leaving for the airport. We then checked out on our way out. Yes it was paying for a room for the night when we wouldn't be there, but it was worth it to us, to be able to have the room for the day, late showers before we left for along flight home.

We were granted late checkout the last time we stayed at GCH (Aug 2009). As others have said, you have to call the morning of checkout and they will let you know then if it is possible. We have never paid for 1/2 day...didn't know that was an option.

As far as the 11:01am thing is concerned... I have left closer to 11:30 without any problems. I just peeked out to see if the housekeeping carts were close and they were not. You don't usually have to manually check out.. they just slip the final bill underneath the door and ask you to call if there are any problems. The room keys are keepsakes and you are not required to return them if you don't want to.

We checked out of the GCH late......we called the morning of and asked for a late check out, we were approved to say until noon, I was hoping for 1 but they said anything after noon was subject to half day rates so we just checked out at noon. so yes, you can get it.
