Grand 1 Yacht vs. Pontoon

I just called to change the date of our cruise in two weeks time in august and there was still plenty of availability. 90 days is probably for peak seasons but I'd recomend booking as far in advance as possible to avaoid dissapointment.

If anyone has any reccomendations for food onboard it would be a great help

1. Did you request the rose+Petals or was this simply the presentation they decided on...I love it for a romantic touch.

This is what they decided for us. It was beautiful and a very nice touch.

2. How much did the cake cost?

I think the cake was around $150 - $180. (Not sure of the exact cost because we got one bill for the whole thing and it wasn't itemized) The castle cake topper is something like $100 so it was the most expensive part of the cake. The cake was 10inch and had almond cake with amaretto mousse.

3. Did you have enough time aboard the boat to watch the fireworks+pageant and be able to have some wine+cake?

We had two hours on the boat but I think you have plenty of time with one hour. We were done with our cake and champagne mostly by the time Wishes started. In the end we were actually ready to go back to the room so we told them to bring her in. They picked us up and dropped us off at the Contemporary because we had dinner at the California Grill.

4. Did they let you take the remainder of the cake+wine with you(I've heard another person say they couldn't)?

We finished the champagne but there was a TON of cake left and we took it.

5. Did you book at exactly 90 days(for the grand1) and did you have any trouble getting it?

We had the concierge book it for us that time but we just booked her again for our wedding trip and we didn't have 'too' much trouble. The concierge could not get it for the night I wanted so I called myself and was able to get it on a different night. If you are a little flexible I think you will be able to get it. When I called myself it was probably 70 or 75 days out!

This is just fantastic information. It will come in such handy when I get 90 days out. I guess I will just talk with the private dining people and see what they can do for me. Is that who you contacted to get the cake and wine? I'd love if they could make the presentations as good as they made it for you.

Thank you sooooo much for taking the time to help me out. I have never seen actual pictures of a night out on the Grand1 before and I can't wait to have my own! Thank you Thank you Thank you!

You're welcome!!!!! I can't wait to hear all about the proposal!

For the cake I had just sent a photo of a similar cake I had seen to the concierge and they took care of it for me. I would imagine if you get the email for private dining and send them the photo of the cake and set up they could re create it. When I booked the Grand One I was asked if I wanted any dining on board and that she would email me the information and menus. Since I went through the concierge I don't actually have the email address but the direct phone number for booking the yacht is (407)824-2439.

Thx to everyone for all the info on the Grand 1.:thumbsup2

VVFF ~ best wishes on getting all your arrangements in order for your proposal.....sounds so romantic! :lovestruc

Skylarr29 ~ thx so much for sharing your beautiful anniversary pictures! You sound like a real 'keeper' planning all this for your DW, and you both make such a nice looking couple! :goodvibes

I am also interested in booking the Grand 1 :goodvibes . Our Grand Gathering is doing the Spirit of Aloha dinner and show, hopefully followed by the passport photo session, then IF my fingers are quick enough on that 90 day mark ;), will surprise my family with a Grand 1 'Wishes' cruise! We are a family of 17, so Grand 1 is my best bet. I've contacted Linda at GF and she's been a great source of info about desserts and drinks that are available. I'm so excited to do this for our family and hope my plans become a reality! :goodvibes
