Grampa Has Prostate Cancer

thanks they dont know what's triggering my breathing problem and my grandpa is not getting any worse but not getting any better either so i supose that's good?? thanks again for posting it really means alot :grouphug:

You have been dealing with alot, I wonder if your breathing problem is anxiety related?

Remember, God does not give you any more than you can handle, so you must be pretty strong.

I lost my mom pretty young, so I understand your worry, and all I can tell you is to enjoy your grandpa now and be sure to ask him about his life, his childhood and his favorite memories, so you can help carry them on when you tell your kids. It will help you feel like you know him really well! He may be around to spoil your kids, but if not, they can get to know him through you.

I'm guessing your grandpa is about my dad's age. My dad is 77 and had prostate cancer but is doing excellent. My own grandpa had it for several years before he passed away from something completely unrelated. Cancer is not always the death sentence it used to be, even when the Drs say it is. I'm living proof of that. ::yes::

Remaining positive and cherishing every moment is the single best thing you can do not only for someone who's ill but also to help yourself cope better. It's so easy to put off special time together until tomorrow, but we only get so many tomorrows and none of us knows how many. Make every today count. I can tell you when my daddy passes I won't be crying and wishing "if only I had....." I'll be thinking of all the special times we had and saying "I'm so glad I did...."

OP, try to take care of yourself and not worry too much.. Sounds like your grandfather is getting the proper care and hopefully will continue to do well. Just as shugardrawers said:

"Remaining positive and cherishing every moment is the single best thing you can do not only for someone who's ill but also to help yourself cope better." That says it better than I could... live for today, no regrets and spend as much time with your grandfather as you can letting him know how much you care..
