The embroidering of ears seems to leave a bit of CM discretion. Years ago I had ears made with "Mommy" on them (which I think technically is not a name). The CM who did it thought it was adorable. A fellow CM came over and gave a strange look. The first CM simply stated that according to my daughter Mommy is my name. I understand some of what they're trying to avoid, but to have "Mommy" be questionable is going a bit far.
So, I'd say if at first you don't succeed, try a different location or time. You might find someone more accommodating later.
