Grades...

How does your district or whatever determine what grade your in? I mean, do they have a cut-off age? Like if you're born after say September you're considered a year younger and go to school with kids who were born in a different year? Or if you're born in a certain year are you guaranteed to be in that grade?

i wouldnt know, seeing as i started early. i think its determined by august, though.

No idea. My district is high school only. Cutoff ages really don't apply.

To start kindergarten, you have to turn 5 by September 1st.

To start kindergarten, you have to turn 5 by August 20th. That's what my mom just told me.

Anyway, I don't know. I'm homeschooled now.

Ours is somewhere in late August and early September. We have a lot of kids in our class that are really a year older and started late because of the cut-off date. I think that that would be kind of fun anyway because you get your license and stuff earlier than everyone else. Also, I am not saying that this is why but all of the kids in my class who were cut-off by that seem to be smarter but I don't know...I guess that it is beacause they had more time to mature.

I think my district is that those born in 1990 is 2008, 1991 are class of 2009, 1992 class of 2010. Cause I was born in October and there are people ranging from January to December 1991. Although my mom made it so my sister was one of the oldest in her class instead of the youngests.

In England you will be in one year if you were born between September 1st say 2000 and August 31st 2001. Then you start again. There is very little 'going up' a year (grade), in fact i have never heard of anyone who has.

There are people in my class that were born December 31, but the same year as me.

I think it's September 1st. My friend's bday is August 31st, so she got lucky, lmao.
