Grad Nite at Disneyland?

I went to Grad Night in...cough, cough...1981. But I was only 5 years old when I graduated high school. ;)

my grad night was in 2000. DCA wasn't built yet and i had bad 2nd degree sunburns ad basically fell asleep on a park bench until they let me out of the park. but i can do my best to answer any questions you may have.

I went to Grad Night in 1996. I'm not sure how it is now, but when we went, we got there and had to sit on the bus for a while because we were early. Then they let us into the park, and we were on our own all night. There was music and dancing and all kinds of stuff going on.

I don't think I'll be able to answer any questions about Grad Nite for you, unless you're interested in how it was in 1983, LOL!

BTW...Here was the music line up:

Berlin
Greg Kihn Band
Steel Breeze
Dazz Band
Cheryl Lynn
Evelyn "Champagne" King
Papa Doo Run Run

Ticket cost me $22.00. It was a lot of fun! :thumbsup2

I went to grad nite 1979. It was fun. I doubt if my time would be anything like now because of the time.:goodvibes

ps Im not getting older, Im getting better. :cool1:

for those who graduated in the 80s do you remember having to be dressed up???? from the looks of the grad site it doesn't appear that is the case any longer. . . i remember having to wear dress shoes, could not wear sneakers, not at all..

Munchkinsmom, Berlin was at your grad nite??/ WOW they were pretty big cough cough way backthen .. (seriously where the heck did that time go????)

we went to new years eve in 87 and i remember richard marx and the cover girls and some other band. . . and they were big during that period. . . Had a friend see cheaptrick at disneyland in 85 or 86 . .

okay the trip down memory lane has stopped. . . FOR NOW :rotfl2:

I went as a grad in 1968 (OMG!!:scared1: ) and again as a chaperone 10 years ago. Do I win for being the oldest?:lmao:

I think you win!
I went to grad night in 1978 (as a date for a guy that went to Oxnard HS ;)) I didn't go to mine in 1980. Boy our dress code was tough. I shopped for weeks to find the perfect pant suit.

I had my Grad Night in 2000 and it was such an awesome experience. All the Rides were open it was like a big party. I remember they turned Aladdin’s oasis into a dance club, but it didn’t stop there they had it in other places around the park. As for the dress code they were pretty strict lots of rules but it was still a blast. A night I will never forget in my teens.

Judy from Boise, I'm an Oxnard HS grad and we were one of the first classes to go to Grad Nite and yes, we totally had to dress up. This was when miniskirts first came out and our skirts could be no more than 2" above our knees and the guys had to wear jackets and ties. Ahhhhh, memories. My grad night date is now my hubby and our 40th anniversary is coming up before too long.

I wanna move to so cal so when my kids are older they can go to grad nights!!!!!!!!

Groan...yes, I had to a wear suit. To Disneyland!

On another note, I was so excited about grad night but my date really ruined it for me. Bummer at the time. I ended up with a great lady in the end though. :)

Kool and the Gang sang "Celebration" live in the Tomorrowland Theater next to Captain Eo and Space Mtn. Boy was that a long time ago. Whenever I hear that song now I think of my ill-fated date that night. :crazy2:

congratulations!

Hydroguy, one of the reasons i didn't go for mine is I didn't want to worry about if my date "got" Disneyland or not. Of course one of the reasons I knew my DH was "the one" is that he was a perfect themepark companion :)

I went to Grad Night in 1985 and wore a strapless dress and heels. I worked at a tux shop, so my date (now my DH) wore a tuxedo. We were just looking at those photos since DS is a Senior this year and may be attending.

Wooo! Go Oxnard!!! But not OHS, cause I didn't go there. ;) :rotfl:

We didn't have to dress up at Grad Night, but there were a long list of rules of what we could/could not wear. I really remember no jeans with any holes or frays and no school logo sweatshirts/tshirts. And no spikey jewlery or belts. We also couldn't bring water bottles, gum, mints, or candy.

GO OHS! :-) I went to grad nite and hadnt been back to Disneyland until this summer. Gosh it was so tiring, I made the silly decision of sitting on the wooden railing at big thunder mountain while we were in line waiting(where there is water behind the railing) and it being 4am or so, i dozed off for like a second and next thing you know, i am falling back. i ended up doing a 180 and falling into the water feet first. water up to my waist! YIKES! thank goodness that same morning was our graduation ceremony!

bring an extra set of warm up pants! :)

:rotfl: :rotfl: Good one!!!

Yeah! It was very cold for May. And I was exhausted! I kept saying "oh yeah! I'm going to stay up allll night and I won't be tired! I'm at Disneyland!" PSH! At like 1am, I was dying. People were asleep on Main Street!
