I take a trip each year in June with my best friend...our annual girls only trip.
We have been there twice during grad nights.
One year, they closed the park to non grads at 8, and we were made to leave. We were bummed, but hung out in Downtown Disney and it wound up being ok.
On our next trip, they had changed the way they handled grad nights. Instead of being booted from the park, we were allowed to stay until midnight. Once the non grads left, the grads were allowed to remain in the park.
To be honest...that was a horrible evening. We actually left the park early, and stopped by City Hall and told them that the old way of booting non grads from the park at 8 was sooooooooo much better.
"Give them the park" we told them.
When planning our trip this year, the first thing we did was look at the days that were grad nights, and booked around them.
Sharing the park with all the grads was awful. Most were respectful of the non grad guests, but the ones that acted like they owned the place really made a miserable night for many people.
The yelling loudly at each other using foul language had me cringing for those parents in the park with their little ones. My friend and I stood in line for what felt like forever to ride Indiana Jones and watched steady streams of grads go into the Fastpass line because they had been given special wristbands that allowed them to do so. We never did get on the ride, and eventually, most of the "regular guests" left to go on a different attraction.
I don't begrudge these kids their great celebration...they deserve it. Graduating high school is a big deal, my daughter graduated last year.
I just prefer to go to the park at a different time.
I don't know how grad nights are being held this year, but regardless, we chose to avoid them.
