Grad Night 2008 Thread

We were staying at the HOJO with a park view on 5/29. The room was actually vibrating from the bass of the music that they blasted ALL NIGHT LONG. I think I woke up around 3am from the instructions blaring over the loud speaker. Not the best night to have a park view.

Oh wow! We're staying park view at HoJo next week with 2 grad nights in a row. Guess we'd better crank up our white noise machine really loud those nights! At least we've been warned.

I've got this mental picture of several thousand 18 year old kids in "holding pens" at DCA. :rotfl2:

I wonder where those "holding pens" are??? :dance3:
LOL. I've worked a few Grad Nites this year, and despite the temptation, we do NOT put the little brats...I mean Grads...into holding pens. DCA does a C/RO (Close/Reopen) starting at about 7 P.M. (after we've verified that all guests have cleared the park per our 6 P.M. closing), then at 8:45-9:00 P.M. the grads will flood into the park, rush to Toy Story Mania, throw hissy fits over the fact that no, just because it's Grad Nite, we are NOT opening the attraction to them, and then they go on as normal, forming a 60 min+ line for Screamin'...until 11:30, when we boot their butts out of DCA and they become Disneyland's problem until 6:30 A.M.:)

We had the exact same thing happen in a view room, the next week after you did. Blaring music and bass. We could hear the loud speaker, and someone on a microphone as well. It was SO loud, and went on till around 5 am or so I'd say! Not a fan of grad nights after that, we all got zero sleep, and was so tired the next day.

We didn't hear a peep when we stayed at the Tropicana the year before on a grad night. So next time we'll be back over there!

I wish i had a grad night.... damn my parents for not living in so cal :rotfl: it just seems like soooooooooo mcuh fun dinsneyland till 6:00 in the morning :faint: ................ i think i might just have to immigrate so may kids can do it ;)

I'm happy to report that we survived 2 grad nights in a row from a HoJo Disney view room (6th floor). We always travel with a white-noise sound machine and we cranked it up extra loud these nights in anticipation of being disturbed by Grad night. The first night we slept straight through, so I guess we were just dead tired. The 2nd night, I woke about 2:30 am and definitely could hear the bass from music playing. It did keep me awake for about 30 minutes, but I was finally able to tune it out and get back to sleep. I will say that it would have been much more bothersome without our sound machine, but I'm addicted to it and don't travel anywhere without it!

Wish I could find one of these white noise machines, they sound nice to have. I know we've got a few neighors around here that think it's okay to blare music all night sometimes (one is down the street and around the corner and we can hear it!). Sounds like it might help that too!

Yep, I was there 1 week ago today and the park closed at 9pm for Grad Night. The fireworks went off at 8:45pm and security was hot on everyone's tail to clear the park. Another item of note regarding the fireworks.......Most of the area around the partner's statue was closed off for viewing as well. They set up some stages right in front of the castle.

Also, the trams to the Mickey and Friends parking structure stopped at 10pm. So, make sure you're not in DTD after that time if you need a tram back to your car or else you'll have to hoof it.

(& ya gotta love the warm & fuzzy thoughts from our CM posting above. :rotfl2: )
