Grabbing breakfast quick...

We're staying at Hojo and have one breakfast planned. The 2 other mornings, we were just going to grab things on the fly. Any suggestions?

To complicate things, we'll probably be up super early because of the time change. Are there any places you know of that open before 7?

Mimi's, Millie's and McDonald's are all open before 7 am.

You could grab a huge muffin from MiMi's and a coffee, or the HoJo store has cereals, milk, fruit, etc. that you can take up to your room. I always like to bring instant oatmeal and make it in my room with some fresh fruit for an easy and cheap breakfast.

It's located next door to Mimi's. You walk past it on the way to DL. IMHO and experience from eating there, the service and the quality of food varies from visit to visit. You'd be better off 1) grabbing a danish or cereal at the HOJO's gift shop 2) having take out brekkie at MIMI's (PS their ribs are better than Tony Romas and cheaper) or 3) getting take out at Mcdonalds.

I'd really want to stay clear of McDonalds. It always sounds like a great idea until about an hour later. :rotfl:

What about La Brea or Jamba Juice?

The Coffee House at DLH opens early (6 am?), but that would require you to walk past the park entrance all the way through DTD to the hotel...not exactly on the way. However, they last time I stopped in, I saw that they had lots of grab and go breakfast items, like cereal cups/milk, pastries, muffins, fruit, and of course, coffee. If you're up for an early morning walk, this gives you another option.

Not sure about the opening times for La Brea Express or Jamba, but I would be surprised if they were open before 7 am (especially Jamba). Others may know better.

I'm not a breakfast eater but we plan on taking some packets of oatmeal with us since you can use the coffee maker to get some hot water. We're also bringing some food (croissants, yummy) with us, but then again, we're not flying.

I would think since anything located in DTD is kind of out of the way when staying at HOJO (you'd have to not only walk to the park, but across the esplanade and into DTD) that would be rather counter productive unless you arrive way before park openings (I hate to give up my front spot in lines if can be helped, sometimes I find it to make all the difference).

We are flying, but we have come to the conclusion that we are going to need to bring "Big Mama" - our giant suitcase - with us.

We are staying at BWPPI, so we will have a "complimentary breakfast", but I still plan on taking some sort of pastries with us to have on hand, in case the free breakfast is the same quality as the buffet next door (Arrrrr.... it be Captain Cruds - er.... Kidds - where the motto is "Dead Men Tell No Tales).

We will probably buy some strudels and muffins. If we can go without buying breakfast in or on the way to the parks, that will be great! DH and I will, however, need our coffee.

We're just planning on bringing cereal with us (either one box, or one of those packages w/a variety of small boxes of cereal), and buying milk each morning...we'll eat it as we walk to the park. We have a much shorter walk this time (Tropicana, vs. the Ramada Plaza on Katella last time)..so I imagine we'll still have ti by the time we get to the park, but that's our plan for now.

just curious, how long was the Ramada Plaza walk to DL?? stayin there in April. an how did you like the hotel??? thx

It was about 15 minutes...not bad in the morning, but too far for us after being in the parks all day. Our legs were killing us by the end of the night.

We liked the hotel enough..walls were a little thin, but the room was well kept and it's definitely a plus having a fridge in the room. If it weren't so far, we'd stay there again...we're trying out the Tropicana in April.

thanks for the response, we could not resist the rate we got and the Plaza did have pretty decent reviews. i guess i'm gonna have to build up those leg muscles :)

i also heard that the shuttle stops right in front, so for those days we dont feel like walking, we can take the shuttle. thx again for the response

This time around I am on Weight Watchers and although I know I can not make every meal WW friendly. I intend on bringing my breakfast and snacks. I will bring my Skinny creamer and Splenda for my coffee. I will probably bring a small 1/2 gallon of milk with me too to go with my cereal. I bring disposable cups and spoons to put it in. Some fruit cups and my snacks. Then at least I know that most of my day was ok. I know that next to the coffee shop there is a Fruit Cart so I may need to take a look at that too while I am there. Does anyone know which places will refill your water for free? I don't have my stroller this time (no kids) and I don't want to lug around that many water bottles with me! ;)

Refill your water bottles at the Baby Center or First Aid (they don't care if you are sans baby or injury) ;) They have cold filtered water to fill your bottle.

Also, I have filled up at the soda fountains where there are water spigots under the Sierra Mist usually. Places like Rancho, Pizza Port, etc.

Thank you Danger Mouse! There are so many different things to think about without the kids! ;) It's like planning a whole new trip!!:)

Thanks to everyone for responding. I guess it'll depend on how early we're up :) I can bring things with me, but I work for a well known breakfast-centric company, so when I'm on vacation I like freshly baked things, eggs, etc :goodvibes

I know at WDW you can walk into any counter service place and they'll give you free ice water. I hope it's the same at DLR!
