On our next trip in a few months we are taking our GPS unit. The last map updates where made in 2010. Does anyone know if there have been any considerable changes made to the local routes to warrant a $50.00 map upgrade?

Thanks!

Nothing worth $50. Especially if you are only driving to/from the airport. The cost of updates is one reason I switched to a smart phone years ago.

Iam in the process of checking into the Garmin software through MouseSavers for the World driving.

Agree, not for the roads you'll likely travel. Just on thing to be aware of. Occasionally the GPS may attempt to guide you down roads that are not guest access, only for CMs. Be sure to check signs if it looks like its taking you off main the main road. There is one south of MK that catches people and the roadway north of the Contemporary and Grand Floridian is not public access.

It's fine to drive on the roads north of the Contemporary; I've driven up there several times. There's a lot of WDW that has cast member parking lots, warehouses, etc. but is open for public access. The truly backstage areas of the parks themselves are gated with guard booths and so forth.

Exactly! Those roads connect to other non Disney public roads that go into neighborhoods and all! We discovered this when DD had to go back there for different things as a CM. But they are NOT CM exclusive...I could go back there w/o her. Couldn't get into my favorite place back there w/o her though, Company D...that sucks!! LOL!
