GPS Help! Garmin Nuvi 760 & loading mp3 files

I'm throwing in the towel. It beat me.

According to my manual and the website I should be able to load mp3 files into the GPS. I can easily find how to play them on the GPS but I can't load them.

Here's what the manual says (condensed)
connect USB cable to nuvi and computer
copy / paste files to nuvi drives/volumes

On the website support help it says I need to open the mp3 file and drag / drop.

Just one problem ... I double click the gps drive ... and .... no mp3 file.

It exists because the GPS shows I have no files loaded.

Am I making sense? Can anybody help me? Preferably before I lose my mind?

Is there internal memory to use, or do they expect you to add flash a memory card?

You can use internal or a card. I didn't want to have to keep trackof yet another card for devices so I was trying internal.

My head really hurts. I might have permanent damage for wracking my brain.
