Tonight I was introduced to Gowallia, which recently partnered with Disney Parks. I'm a Foursquare lover and am mayor at many places, but this will be my new addiction. The badges are beautiful! I just hope they start offering coupons and giveaways like Foursquare. Anyone else loving it?

I started using it last week at disney. the badges are really cool. I also like there are trips on there to do. Such as there is one that is walk in walt's footsteps. where there are 8 attractions you need to check into to complete the trip. there are quite a bunch of those for wdw.

I think it's awesome - love the badges and the other tours, but sadly I haven't gone anywhere since I got it but the grocery store and the dentist! Not so exciting. They released those Disney tours just a few weeks after our trip! :-( It's way better, aesthetically, than Foursquare.

There was an update yesterday - now it can combine check-ins from your friends on Foursquare and FB Places as well - I read it in the update notes but haven't checked it out since then.

PS - NikkiBell - they are doing a giveaway a day from now until Christmas - check out their homepage. Today they are giving away 100 Gowalla scarves, some days it's electronics, towards Christmas I think an iPad or a laptop.

Gowalla and Foursquare are social network "games" you play via your smartphone. You "check in" at places you go to and earn badges (in Foursquare if you are the person who checks in at that place the most you become virtual mayor lol). They both have giveaways that you can use in the real and virtual world. Check it out!

Thanks! I'm assuming these are "virtual" badges? I don't have a smartphone, though. I wonder if it would work with my iPod touch...

Yes, the badges are virtual, but there are also real world things you can find when checking in! On Foursquare, for example, you get free chips and salsa every time you check in at Chilli's!

I started using Gowalla about a year ago, stopped, and then restarted when I saw that they signed a deal with Disney. I tried foursquare, but liked Gowalla better, even though I think that foursquare is the more popular of the two

I'm another foursquare user converting over to gowalla. I tried it out a while back and ended up sticking with 4sq, but I'm giving it another shot. The fact that you can link to 4sq and fb places makes it better than before, plus like others have said, the badges, pins, items, etc. are much easier on the eyes! Looking forward to earning some Disney badges at the parks next week and trying out some of the tours.

Another Disney podcast called BetaMouse (it's another one of my favorites) actually dedicated a whole show to Gowalla - their new relationship with Disney, app features, comparisons to 4sq and fb, etc. Good show, you can find it at betamouse.net (episode #41 "Disney+Gowalla==Love").
