Government rate in April 2006

Anyone know what our chances would be of getting the government rate at the Dolphin in April 2006 with it being Easter/Spring Break week? Are there alot of conventions at that time?

If you are talking about the week after Easter, I think your chances are pretty good. There probably wouldn't be a convention at that time. This year there was no discount the week before Easter (at least not the part when I was in WDW). The discount that they did have later that spring was a little higher than the normal teacher discount. It was $189, but only for a couple of nights in a row. Easter Week was practically sold out in WDW, and the Dolphin was able to charge higher rates.

Here was our experience., the year before we got the whole easter week/break time for us at the swan with the govt. rate, this year was a different story. We went the last week of april which was ny spring break. We could only get the govt. discount like for 3 of our 8 days. Then I was seeing lower rates on the web site. We called S/D directly and they said if I printed out the rate and brought it with me, they would honor that rate for a few of the other dates we had. Well for a few dollars more, I bought an ap and got a great ap rate at the poly, But this coming year our spring break 2006 is also easter week. I will also hope for a good swan govt. rate or an ap rate at a disney deluxe. I thought they only release them a few months ahead of time. Good luck. I always have an A and B plan in mind for our family of 5.

What was the website that you saw the lpwer rate on?

It was the starwood website, we were getting mad because they kept changing the prices etc. within weeks, there were specials etc. I dont know if that is their policy to honor that at all times, or just because we called them directly and brought it to their attention, because at one time we said we could rebook etc. but didnt want the hassle etc. Our printed reservation had the 3 govt. rates days and then all the much higher rates, then like 2 months later the website had lower rates etc.
