today I finally called and talked to GS about our January ressie at WL. I was dreading the call because I was sure I wouldn't get anything. Well, they were very nice and I was given the choice of $100 per night off our standard room, garden room at Contemporary in a wing or Poly garden. We decided to stick with WL as we saved $600 + tx on our room. I am satisfied. Disney came through for me. I think maybe the guests that are turned down made their ressies either when construction rumors started or after the announcement.

Congrats on the savings, glad Disney had some options for you. Hope you have a great trip :wizard:.

Who did you contact? My girlfriends family is booked there in November before they knew about the construction and she received the letter today about the construction. Does she call 407-WDISNEY or wait for guest experience number to be open 9-5?

I called the regular ressie # and asked the cm for Guest services. She wanted to know what I needed and I told her I was booked at WL and had heard many of the amenities we're going to be impacted with construction. She tried to tell me it would only be the small pool and I politely explained it was much more than that and I would like to speak to guest services about my concerns. She transfered me. I asked if there's were any compensations being given and she said yes, $100 dollars a night off our current room. I asked her if there were any other options and she gave me the other resort choices. They were very nice. Be sure to listen carefully about what you can and can't do to your ressi without losing your compensation though.

Thanks so much! I feel bad because we were originally booked there at the same time but I thought my parents would like the boardwalk better so we changed. Now she is stuck b/c there are not really good discount options available during our time!
I really appreciate your guidance.

They actually said I could get Boardwalk too for what I was booked at the Lodge for, but I decided to save the $600 dollars. Usually when they come out with discounts for WL standard rooms aren't included and we end up upgrading, so still paying more, so the $100 per night is good. (We had booked at $30 less per night than 2016 rates ended up being too, so we actually saved $130 off rack.

I'd have jumped on that Boardwalk deal if it wasn't costing me any more than I had budgeted. But hey, now you can use the money to hit HDDR or a Dessert party for the family.
