:goodvibes We have our first DVC stay booked for December with our new baby who will be 11 months then. I have been longing for a trip before then as we were unable to travel when I was pregnant. I tossed around the idea of a quick trip for just myself and DS sometime soon. Wasn't sure I would get anything with points on short notice. I had some dates in mind and was pretty flexible looking at two weekends in May and two in June.

I also did not want to go if my only option was a resort with only buses. I called today and got two nights for June 8-10 at Wilderness Lodge. I am super excited for a quick trip with ds and not waiting until December. Also, because I have never stayed at WL but visited and always wanted to stay there. I am not really going to do much as far as parks go, but maybe a stroll through MK. This is perfect.

Does anyone know if a stroller would have to be folded up in the WL boats to MK? For as little time as I would spend in MK, I might just where him in the baby carrier.

There are two different style boats which provide transportation from the Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom. The larger boat has the ship's captain elevated above the passengers and strollers do not have to be folded up. The smaller boats, which resemble the Jungle Cruise boats, require that strollers be folded due to limited space. If the small boat arrives at the dock first, you can skip that boat and wait a few minutes for the next larger vessel to arrive.

Thanks Chic! That makes it even better. We'll be in no hurry, so we will wait if need be. :)

I believe you'll love the whole WL experience. You seem to be wanting mostly to soak up the ambience more than anything else, and VWL (and the whole Lodge) have that in abundance. There is a nature trail that leaves out from behind the bike rental shop where you could take your DS for a walk in the carrier. It follows the contours of the lake and even hooks up to the main, paved trail that connects WL to FW. Enjoy!

Sleepydog you are exactly right about my goals for this trip! That is a great suggestion about the trail-sounds like the perfect morning activity. Thank you!!

Glad you like the suggestion. About 1/4 to 1/3 of a mile after you start on the trail, the trail splits to the right and continues going straight ahead. If you take the right portion, it leads up to the main paved trail. Or, if you continue straight, it follows the lake another 1/2 mile or so before you have to either turn around or work your way through a CM back parking lot to the stables at FW. Either way, it should be a nice, relaxing walk. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

A truly wonderful walk in the morning....in June I wouldn't go after lunch...heat and bugs...hope you get a great patio/balcony to enjoy while your little one is sleeping at nap/bed time!

We've often seen deer on the path to FW. Have a wonderful time with your DS!:goodvibes

Thanks to everyone for your tips and responses :goodvibes

Thanks! I was definately thinking very very early morning for the walk! Then maybe we'll head to MK for about an hour. The really hot part of the day I think we'll hang out in the room. I did buy a sun tent for him in case I decide to sneak to the pool for a bit.

About the balcony, you reminded me. Does anyone have any recommendations for room location requests? I was thinking close to the entrance or walkway to the main building. What about the views?

We usually request third floor or higher with a room overlooking the pool. We don't always get our request, naturally, but when we do, the views are some of the best with less obstructed views of the lake and the pool area. These rooms are relatively close to the elevators, too. :thumbsup2
