Got the Free Dining Pin!!!

Yes. Mine was for QS dining, but I wouldn't want to do the table service. I just called and the difference between what I have have already booked and what I could get with the free dining pin is $192. I don't know what I should do???

Yes, we are family of 5 and we booked POR and are going in June for 5 nights.

Here my calculations after playing on the Disney site. I don't know your exact dates or room category, but here's what I found.

$500 Gift Card
June 6-11
2 Adults, 3 kids
POR standard
5 day base tickets
Total = $2190.17 ($2769.92 with QS dining)

Free Dining
June 6-11
2 Adults, 3 kids
POR Standard
5 day base tickets
Total = 2190.17

The prices are the same b/c you are paying rack rate for each. It just depends on what "extra" you want added - $500 gift card or food.

Disney values the QS dining plan at $597.75, so "technically" free dining is a better deal. However, if you think you can do dining for less than $500 and use whatever is left over for souvenirs, then the $500 gift card wins.

Also, does your 12-year-old eat like an adult, b/c you're paying the adult price for the dining plan.

That what my SIL said last night, that it should have cost anything more since I was paying rack rates. So why did the guy quote me $192 more? I need to call back. That guy really wasn't being very "magical," if you know what I mean.

My guess is he bumped your room category up or added insurance or added water parks to your tickets.

OK, I just called again and got someone who was super helpful.

I switched to the FD and it didn't cost me anything. She told me FD value was actually going to be $580. My DS12 eats like an adult. She said this was the much better deal for us and I have heard how people take any leftover credits and use them to purchase souvenier snack foods to take home at some gift stores. I'm pretty sure I saw that somewhere on this board.

I also think it's better because now I don't have to worry about budgeting that $500 and if the kids want an ice cream they can have one no worries.

I got this as well, but we are now AP holders, staying at AKL - so rack rate wouldn't help us at all since we are getting 45% off of rack rate. We would be staying PoP, but since we have a friend coming with us who can share the price burden we decided to upgrade.
