got PLEDGE on the wood floor - now slick. What to do?

anyone know how I can get this off the floor ? Will plain water do the trick?

If it has a urethane finish, you may want to try using a cloth lightly dampened with mineral spirits. I don't think water will do it, you need something that will cut through the Pledge residue. Otherwise, I'd call SC Johnson & ask them how to get it off.

I looked on their website and It says don't use on wood floors. Yep _ I can agree with that! I was just spraying some on a rag to use on a table and some got on the floor.......grrr.........

My MIL once told me to use Dawn liquid dish soap on a similar situation. (My DD polished the stair hand rail.) It did work, but again it was a hand rail and not the floor.

Dip a cloth into a little dishsoap and water and rub the area. The dish soap cuts the oil, which is what's making it slippery.

Wipe it with clear water, dry it well. It won't hurt the finish. Wood floor finishes aren't that delicate, or they wouldn't put them on the floor!

What about Murphy's Oil Soap? It's made for wood floors.

Way back when I was in college, I actually polished the wood floors in my sorority house with Pledge. I had NO idea it would be so slippery! We put big signs up to warn people, and with 20 people walking across it, it wore off fairly quickly.

There are several hardwood manufacturers that warn customers off of Murphy's Oil Soap. We used to use it quite a lot on our older floors, but the folks who installed our new wood floors told use to avoid oil soaps and use something that doesn't leave as much of a film on the surface. We use Hartco Easy Clean.
