Got our new lense for the camera

Hi,

We picked up our new lense for the camera Canon 400D yesterday Sigma 28-300 just in time for our trip in September.

I am new to the whole photography scene so me and DH are enrolling for a photography course at college in November which will cover a lot of the basics/ types for us so we are looking forward to that.

We are going on a track day tomorrow and I wondered what would be the best setting to have the camera on as there will be a lot of action no doubt.

Congrats on the new lens. I know you will get a lot of good use out of it. Have fun using it at Disney. Not meaning to be fresh, but what is a track day? Race track or horse track?

I rarely take my Canon XT out of Aperture mode. THat way I control the depth of field. Low number shallow DOF, high number deeper DOF.

the camera then chooses the exposure. I adjust the ISO myself, if it is a bright scene like outdoors in the day use the lowest iso. darker shot like inside might need a higher iso if your subject is moving.

I learned by shooting a shot in auto and then tried a few manual or half-manual modes like aperture mode.

best thing to do is what you are doing, practice.
