We are leaving tomorrow and I just rechecked my Swan reservation at the Starwood website and all the tips everyone here gave me abount asking for upgrade or nice views seems to have paid off!! thanks :) we had a king-size room under the AP rate which included a lakview. Now my ressie says that we have a "deluxe King room w/ a resort view & balcony!!" i'm really excited about this. i just wondered if anyone knew exactly what a "resort view" is--is it better than a lakeview (i hope). i don't want to be on the front entrance of the building facing MGM, are there balconies there? are the balconies only facing dolphin? sorry for the random questions, but can someone help me out with where they think my new upgrade could be and where exactly i should make sure it is. does anyone have any pics of a "deluxe king".

thanks so much for all the help!! much appreciate!! :) :) :) :) :)

It sounds like a room that faces the Dolphin/YC/BC and the lake. The balcony rooms face the Dolphin in the center part (over the entrance to the walkway to the 2 resorts) and there are balocny rooms in the 2 wings. I believe there are no balconies on the part of the building that faces the main entrance/MGM.

super. i hope that the room is a balcony in the main building. actually, i am sure a wing room is nice too. this a wonderful upgrade and i am so excited. seems like the s/d are much better about upgrades and room requests than some of the other deluxe resorts. thanks for all the tips everyone! :earsgirl:

Ah! How are you doing this? I'm staying at the Swan but I have a Dream Maker package and I don't know what my comfirmation number is. On the voucher it has Reservation and Reference numbers. Neither of them are working.

I tried the credit card number but I paid by check so, I don't know.

Guh! I sent in a request with my Starwood number but I guess it they haven't entered it in? I'm not sure.

Hi - Have a great trip. I hope you have a wonderful view and stay at the Swan and I am looking forward to reading about your trip when you return. Where did you see this info on the SPG website. Maybe it is too early for anything to be posted for our stay because it is still about a month away. Thanks

I am an SPG member, but no points yet. I have AAA preferred plus status with SPG and am booked with the AP rate with a Lakeview room. Did you ask for your special requests by email on the SPG site or just when you booked? Did you come right out and request a complimentary upgrade?? Any info is appreciated.

i put the request in two places--on the s/d website under special room requests and on the spg.com website. i was able to check my ressie on the starwood site by logging in w/ my member name & password (as soon as you sign up for the starwood club you can do this). anyway, my upgrade didn't show up until today (and my trip is tomorrow!). i put the requests in about two weeks ago and have been checking every day or two, but the change only showed up today--a nice last minute surprise :) i am not sure how early they do the room requests/assignments, but it seems to only be a few days before the trip. my advice is to be persistent, be sweet and since their ressie # is an 800, give them a call the closer you get to the trip and reiterate your request and make sure it is noted on your ressie. it never hurts to ask, right?

If you plug in your log in and password on the Starwood site it gives you the options to check any reservations. Ours came up with all the details but it was a "room only" reservation. If it's under your name it should come up.

i just joined spg for this trip and have no points either. i did come out and asked for a comp upgrade. i think i specifically said that any comp upgrade or really terrifc view that they could offer would be really appreciated. i was afraid of getting a bad lakeview and just wanted to avoid looking at any rooftops, etc. but it seems that mickey worked his magic and gave me better than i hoped for. we're really looking forward and i will definitely give a full review of the hotel and restuarants, etc. when return.

p.s. i didn't ask for it when i booked, but after i booked i went and joined the spg club and then made a request on the spg ressie site. i also made one on the s/d website room request form. i also called s/d back and made sure that they added my spg # to my ressie.

Our trip is not until Dec 11th, so I just wondered if I should wait a while before I send in a request or go ahead and do it now?

Hi,

Could you please tell me where to go on the spg ressie site as I'm unable to find it . Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

go to spg.com site and login on the left side of screen. after you log in, there is a drop down menu right below the login area and one of the choices (in the middle of the list) is 'check reservations'. just click that and it will take you to your reservation :) hope the explanation is clear. good luck.

Lady, did you email you request soon after you made your ressie or just recently?

i made my original ressie about 3 weeks ago. and i emailed and made the request about 2 weeks ago. i followed up again with a phone call to s/d about 3 days before our trip. good luck :)

Does anyone know if the deluxe king rooms have a connecting door to another room? We're booked at the Swan for December (AP rate) and I requested a king room, but the reservationist told me the only king rooms available were connecting rooms and since I wanted a quiet location, this wouldn't work out for us.

TIA for all info.

Lady from NYC: Thanks for all the info you've posted. Very helpful. And enjoy your stay!

I do know the studio rooms (they call them the "L" shaped rooms now) have kings without connecting doors at the Swan.

If you considered the Dolphin, the rooms with the torret balconies at the end of the hall also don't have connecting doors and they have king beds. Most of these rooms also have beautiful views.

Hi all! Just back from the Swan (literally just flew in). Had a great room w/ a great view and an overall enjoyable Disney trip. So sad to come home--wish we could have stayed longer. Wanted to thank everyone for their help w/ info & planning advice before our trip. I'll write up a full trip report in a day or so and would be happy to answer any questions I might be able to anyone with.

:) :earsgirl:

Missin' Mickey already :(
