I called MS this morning to book Sanaa. The CM told me they can book lunch and dinner but not breakfast. There has been confusion about his because the DVC members' website states that Sanaa serves lunch while the Disney website states that it will serve breakfast.

I had hoped it would be breakfast since it won't be very convenient to have to go to Jambo House for breakfast but that appears to be the way it will be. On the upside, there is now another option besides The Mara for guests who want to have lunch at the resort.

Good luck to everybody else making their Sanaa dining reservations today.

Conratulations on being the first to book!

:cool1:

I got my dinner reservation also. She did confirm that it will one table service credit for dinner which was probably reported earlier but I was not sure before I called.

I got through right at 9am and was able to make an ADR for dinner at Sanaa on May 12th. Now, we just have to find the menu somewhere!! :confused3

The CM I talked to read from his abbreviated menu and it sounds delicious! Entrees at lunch will range form $11.50-21, dinner from $17-22, desserts $5-6. I'm disappointed that we couldn't make breakfast ADRs. Maybe breakfast will be a first come first served affair.

Got ours this morning too! Can't wait to see a menu now...

I was hoping we could see a menu before booking. Maybe I should just go ahead and book and then cancel if I decide the menu is a problem.

Anyone remember any of the dishes the cm's read to you?
I couldn't keep up with what she read but I managed to jot down a few things. The MS CM said this was not complete and subject to change:

Lunch:
Tandoori chicken
Burger
Lamb(?) Biryani (I think she said lamb but I'm not positive)
Grilled pork chop
Sustainable fish wrapped in a banana leaf

Dinner:
many of the same items listed for lunch plus:
Lamp chop
some kind of shrimp dish
steak with a fancy description I didn't quite catch

Sorry for not catching a more complete description of the menu. I am a vegetarian so I was listening for something I could eat and wasn't paying a lot of attention to things that I won't ever order! The sad news for me is that there are no vegetarian items on the menu. The other restaurants at AKL/AKV are great for vegetarians so I expected there would be at least one thing on the menu we could order but if they have something planned, they didn't share that information with MS. I booked a dinner reservation anyway and will just hope that there will be something we can eat when we show up for dinner!

I think it's traditional in southern India to serve food on a banana leaf.

Sustainable fish is a fish that is not endangered or over-fished, like Chilean sea bass has been. It's a very "green" thing to do. Cooking it in the banana leaf just keeps everything really moist, like if you use parchment paper or a foil packet- but it adds a little flavor unlike those other choices. I think it sounds great, i hope they do it right!

I'm having dinner at 8pm on May 16th- really excited!! And I am sooo glad they're serving lunch!

Well thats very disappointing.:sad2: I, too, am a veggie and was hoping to book an ADR for when we stay at Kidani in August.
I shall be interested in how you get on when you dine there. Please let us know.:goodvibes

That's strange, it being an Indian theme. Vast numbers of Indians are vegetarian, so I'd think it would be one place that WOULD have lots of options. I flew Air India one time, and the dinner choices the flight attendant gave were "vegetarian, or non-vegetarian"!

What the heck is that? Yuck!
:crazy2:

No menu preview or reviews...no ADR for me.
:surfweb:

Actually it's very good.
The leaf "Steams" the fish and keeps the fish very moist and tender

Maybe you should try before you "Yuck"?

Congratulations to all you guys who got your ressies!!! I have to wait as not going until August! :rotfl:
Did any of the CM's say when the menu will be published?!! Can't wait to see it!
Debsx :upsidedow

If the menu hasn't been posted somewhere on the web before we eat there in early May, I will take photos of it to post here.

As others have posted, back when they announced the type of food that would be served at Sanaa, I just assumed there would be a vegetarian option. Plus Boma and Jiko are two of the better restaurants for vegetarians so I assumed Sanaa would carry on that tradition. But we all know what can happen when we assume and it's a bit worrying that the list of items given to the MS CMs did not include anything a vegetarian could eat.

The MS CM read me a statement that this restaurant can cater for dining lifestyle preferences such as no sugar, vegetarian, .... so if there is nothing on the menu, we'll see what they can do for us. I've read some great reports about special things the chefs at other WDW restaurants will do in this situation. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they will come up with something better than a plate of pasta and steamed veggies!

I think it's possible that by the time they open in May you may very well see some vegetarian options on the menu. At least I hope that's the case.

I'm set for lunch on May 17th and can't wait! :goodvibes The sustainable fish in the banana leaf sounds really delish!

I'm so glad to hear that they're doing lunch. We prefer our TS at lunchtime, and lots of restaurants unfortunately aren't open for lunch. Maybe we'll book this for early May.
