I finally got my phone call from Worlds of Fun telling me where I will be. I have been promoted to Lead at Camp Snoopy. I have to admit I am a little disappointed. I had requested a roller coaster. That was the one area I didn't want, but they're doing something different with it this year and wanted somebody organized. It will be an adventure and I think that we will definitely have some fun.

OP, I'm not saying this to offend you, but I can't believe Worlds of Fun is still in business. It never seemed busy when I went other than when my company rented it out for a special night. As a local, I went each year for a few years, but totally lost interest in the park. I hardly ever heard of anyone going to the park. Oh well, somebody must be going.

I hope you have a great summer working there.

No offense taken. We did a pretty brisk business this summer, and Haunt is always vey busy. They did get a Golden Ticket from the American Coaster Enthusiasts for Prowler- our new wooden coaster. It won a Godlen Ticket for best new ride, worldwide.

No, they're not Disney, but there is definitely potential.

Where is worlds of fun located? I feel like I know it from somewhere...

OK duh! That explains a lot! Maybe because I drive by it every winter... I've never had a chance to go, we usually aren't there in the summer (we did get out there this year but didn't have time for it )

Aw I love KC, now I miss it! Maybe one day I will make it to worlds of fun, don't they have a water park too? Oceans of fun right?

Yes, Oceans of Fun is next door to Worlds of Fun.

KC is a great city. I love living in Florida, but I do miss KC.

DS17 has a job interview on Monday for the local amusement park. He is pretty excited about that.

My family has our season tickets for Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun. We can't wait for them to open this summer. I think WOF open in April. We will be there.

So I was pretty disappointed with my placement but trying to have a good attitude about it. I had kept telling Aaron (my boyfriend who is also a rides Supervisor at the park) that that was the one place I did not want to be and he kept telling me there was not way they would put me there. The one time I worked there when they were short handed it was so boring. There were no guests because it was late and I remember thinking, "I can't imagine working here everyday."

Well...Last Thursday the other manager called me. I was confused because I had already been given my placement. Basically, they ended up with an opening at Viking Voyager- an original log flume ride. He said they needed a good lead there because if one person messes up, the whole ride goes down. I admit, when the other manager had told me about needing a good lead at Camp Snoopy, I thought maybe she was just trying to make me feel better. But after my conversation on Thursday (which I can't reveal all the details of) I believe she really was telling me the truth.

So I am now the Lead at Viking Voyager. It's an older ride- an original from the park. It's fun because when it goes down, every supervisor and manager in the park comes running because you have to evacuate it. It is different and should be an adventure. I'm very excited!

mlclements: Yep. We open April 17. Come say hi if you get a chance.

Ds17 pretty much got hired on the spot for his job at Valleyfair. We were HOPING he could get at least 20 hours/week but they gave him 50!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

They are smart. With the large number of hours they offer they don't have to worry about teens having another job to schedule around. They encourage you to have friends apply so you can 1. carpool and 2. if you are riding with 2 or 3 friends you will show up for work :thumbsup2.

The pay is pretty good for a teenager and they can earn a sizable bonus for working what they said they would work. :thumbsup2

Good for you! Viking Voyager was my favorite ride at Worlds of Fun!
