Nike Straprunner's on sale at Modell's Sporting Goods this week! Regular price is $39.99, sale price is $29.99.

Both men's and women's sizes available. I purchased the Straprunner IV's, the newest version. I've seen very few places on-line lately that carry them, so I thought I would post in case you are near a Modell's and need to get a pair!

Hey, Cindala...

Just went online to Modell's but couldn't find any Nike Straprunners. I wonder if they sold out pretty quick? What are the advantages to these shoes? I saw what they looked like on another site. I usually wear Nike's, but the Nike Air Sneakers.

Could someone provide a link to these sandals? I would love to see what they look like! Thanks!

Here's a great picture I found at Altrec.com's website.
They look pretty cool and $39.95 seems to be the going rate.

Oh, and something else I just found... if you put your size in the box in the upper right corner and a different color is available the picture changes to that style. Very cool... The sand and blue ones make me want to order a pair!

Disbug,

The sale on the Straprunners is at Modell Stores, not on-line. Sorry if I worded it incorrectly.

These are very comfortable sandals. Although not specifically meant for walking, they are the most comfortable things I've ever worn on my feet in Disney. I was only able to get the blue, but I'm hoping the beige comes in soon so I can exchange for the beige which matches with more things.

Are these more comfortable than wearing normal running shoes?
My feet always get so hot with sock and t shoes on. I also have tender feet, what about blisters?

The best thing about the Straprunners is that they are completely waterproof. They are great for when it rains. We even wore ours into the pool. They dry really fast. DH and I love our Straprunners. They are really comfortable.

I have problems with my feet too, and find that sandals are better in hot weather. I do switch shoes often while at WDW - after a swim break or alternate days - just to keep my blisters fresh. :)

What I do is put moleskin on my feet every morning before we leave. I cut it into strips about the size of bandaids & apply them to the areas where I normally blister. It really works to prevent them!!

I do this with my Tevas also, even though it looks a little dumb, if anyone were to check out my feet. Mostly it's under the straps though.

Just want to put my two cents in on these sandals -- my husband and I have these sandals and we have walked all over Disney World and Universal Studios in these sandals! They are very comfortable. I wouldn't have believed that a sandal could be as comfortable as these are - but it's true. I discovered these sandals on this board and very glad I did.

I never have problems with my feet at home. The normal wear and tear of everyday work and walking never bother me.

However, there is something about Disney (could be all the walking and the heat!) that really gets to my feet. Over the years I have tried walking sneakers, running shoes, and various sandals, and the Nike Straprunners by far have been the best for me.

The velcro strap adjusters allow for a customized fit, and there are no sore spots where the straps meet, which I have found to be a problem for me with the Teva's. The material used on the Straprunners is more comfortable and seems to mold to your foot. Your feet don't sweat as in sneakers, and they are waterproof, so if you go on Kali River Rapids, or get caught in a sudden downpour, your feet are dry in no time.

To look at them you wouldn't think they had enough cushioning to be good walking sandals, but the material they are made with is a good shock absorber I guess, and they are very lightweight.

I know everyone's feet are different, so what works for one, maynot be good for another, but I love my Straprunners, and wouldn't go to WDW without them.

What kind of stores carry these? I looked at the pic and see these are like a grownup version of the sandals I buy my kids every summer.

Are these only available in specialty stores or would places like RackRoom Shoes or Kohl's carry them?

Thanks! I need new sandals before WDW in June!

colleen costello,

Usually sporting goods stores carry the Straprunners, like Modell's, and The Sports Authority. Some on-line stores have carried them in the past like Altrec, and Rei. Last year, JustforFeet had an older version of the Straprunner's on sale.

I did see the men's Straprunner's on sale once at Kohl's, but not the women's. As the warmer weather rolls in, hopefully more places will start offering them again.

Thanks! We have limited shopping here. There's a sports-oriented shoe store in the Mall and everything is WAY overpriced. Now I know where to look before resorting to that place. :)

WDW is my favorite place on Earth but my feet don't much like it! :)

I've also seen them at Shoe Carnival and Rack Room. For the children's sizes, Kids r' Us is a good source; they had them on sale recently for <$20.

BTW: The pair I have are the II's, and for neutral color, I bought the men's, in a nice light tan (with some black trim) -- that was the year that the women's colors were navy w/ orange! If you are a woman with wider-than-avg. feet, the men's shoes should fit very well; just go 1.5 sizes smaller than you normally wear. (Ex: I normally wear a ladies 8.5, my Straprunners are men's size 7.)

DS and I wear Straprunners; DH is sold on a pair of leather sport sandals from Bass that he got at one of their outlet stores; they are made more like a fisherman sandal, with a vertical toe strap. They have the same type of sole as the Nike's, though, resiliant foam, not cork. We don't do sneakers at theme parks anymore, as the waterproof sandals are just SO much easier.

NotUrsula, do you know the style name of your husband's Bass sandals? My DH would like to try a pair of sandals, but his feet are wide, and I've heard Nikes tend to run narrower.

Kim

Thanks, NotUrsula. Since 2 kids I do have a wider foot and the men's shoes would probably fit me perfectly. I will try RackRoom tomorrow.

I too have to recommend the straprunners. At first I had Teva's and they were wonderful but then I went on vacation with them. They let me down. Then I tried the straprunners and from the first wearing they were the best sandals. Now I've gone to Disney 3 times with them and they have never let me down. My Teva's have become "local" sandals, no more vacations for them.

... so they probably don't stock exactly that style any longer. I checked their webpage, though, and they do have a fair number of sandals for this year:
http://www.bassstore.net/webapp/wcs...toreId=30001&categoryId=11501&langId=-1&top=Y

There are sandals in both the "American Casual" and the "Sport Attitude" sections. If you have an outlet store anywhere near you, you should be able to see everything they offer, their outlets are very good.

BTW: Another thread on the Tips board has a recommendation for a fisherman sandal from Eddie Bauer, if he wants another closed-toe possibility.
