My BFF, DD & I will be in WDW Sept 11 through 16th. Originally we were slated for All Star Sports. I was disappointed/concerned about one of the pools closing while we're there. My DD is only 6 years old and I was concerned about too many bigger kids being crammed into one pool. After a couple of phone calls to Disney, they found availability at Pop for me tonight. I've never stayed here, but after reading over the last few weeks how much so many DISer's love it, I'm really excited.
I requested the Play-doh building for no other reason than my daughter LOVES the stuff.
Tell me how much I'm just going to love it! I did see that a lot of you guys will be there the same time that I am. I'd like to meet some of you!!

I have never stayed there but have visited it when we stayed at All Star Sports. We wanted to stay there sooooo bad this trip (Aug 25-Sept 1) and when we got our room at POP I was so excited. Then we were upgraded for free to Old Key West (along with a bunch of other people...that is in another thread) for Aug 26-Sept 1 so we still get to stay at POP for a night and then we are moving up to OKW. I think you will LOVE it at POP! We found Sports to be run down for Disney (my own opinion!). Have a great time!

The PoP is superior to the All Star Sports- which is in need of some refurb, and surfboard bay pool really needs to be cleaned and resurfaced.

the other All-Stars are in pretty good shape, except for the bus stop work at Movies.

Frankly the All Star Sports would be my last choice in Value resorts.

Pop is great. My DW and I have stayed there 3 times and going to be 4 in May 2008. We love it. You can check out a couple of the Pop Century threads for additional details.

Enjoy, you will have an awesome time. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I love Pop, and while I love the All Stars, I do think Pop's room furnishings are a bit nicer and I like the larger TV (although I believe the All Stars are getting the newer furniture like Pop's and the larger tv's now too maybe). I love the values, they are all so fun, bright and colorful. Pop is definitely no exception, I think given the pool situation at ASSP, you made a wise choice and got lucky to find a room at Pop. Have a great stay!

Oh, I also have to say given the age and gender of your child, Pop is probably going to be better since its icons are not geared towards Sports but rather Disney movies in addition to the pop culture. If she hasn't seen them already, be sure and watch Jungle Book and Lady and the Tramp, that way the those icons will mean more than ever to her. I also love that big Mickey phone and so do kids!

I love POP. The food court is great. The bus service is excellent, and you don't have to share a bus with any other resort so only one stop! Also - it is much closer to MGM (and I think even a little closer to MK and Epcot) than All Stars.

I think you'll like POP as well. The food court is one of the best I've seen on site, the resort is still fairly new, and I like the nice walk around Hourglass Lake. The only suggestion I would make is avoid a room facing a pool if noise is a concern. One time I stayed in the 50's building facing the Bowling Pool and some folks were out swimming past 1AM, making it difficult to get to sleep.

Oooh ... keep these comments coming! For whatever reason, I just switched (10 minutes ago) to Pop from ASMu. I requested a 60's room facing the lake. I don't know why I changed my mind, but I haven't been to Pop since the year it opened. Please tell me I haven't lost my mind!

I took DD10 to POP for a surprise bday trip...we had a room in the 60's facing the lake...awesome!! Nice view, quiet...yet CLOSE to everything!! I lvoed the pool area in this section...grounds here nicely landscaped as well!!
Outdoor poolside bar...great food court, and we never had an issue with the bus service! And a great merchandise store!! This is "our" place if her and I can sneek away for a quick trip!

Good call. We stayed at Pop in the 60's building in May this year. We had a room facing the lake. You will love it, it's beautiful and quiet. :thumbsup2

We had a blast. Perfect for couples. You can get a lake view for a quiet romantic atmosphere. You can stroll around [half] of the lake and walk along the lighted bridge at night. They have a bar inside next to food court; AND don't miss the nice pool bar!:thumbsup2

The first two times we stayed at POP we weren't crazy about it but it sort of grows on you. It's much better than the All Stars in my opinion. It's colorful and fun. Some of the buildings are a bit of a walk to the buses but it's still worth it. Now, if we decide to stay on property we look there first.

pop is a great value....

Place is clean....and full of happiness....

Just walking through the building when you checkin and see
all the stuff through the decades.....makes ya smile:goodvibes
No shared buses;)
Great food court.
Have a great trip

I love POP, I have stayed at the All Star resorts before and have not returned since POP opened. The lake view room I had last time was awesome, it was very quiet too. I have had excellent service at check in and check out, one CM even offered my son to come around the corner and help with the check in process, but he was too shy at the time. The food court is great as well as the gift shop, the bus service is excellent and not sharing a bus with another resort is a great time saver as well. The pools are a lot of fun too. This October when we were planning our trip there was no doubt we would stay at POP again.

I am going to Pop in three days and it will be my third time there. Each time I stay for 11 days. I love this place. It is colorful, fun and very much like an extension of one of the parks.

It feels more like a park then a motel. When I arrived for my first time at Pop, it was the same feeling I got when I first went to the Magic Kingdom. It is a very Magical Place.

You will love it. We stayed there last Nov. and it was great. Definitely a cut above the other value resorts. The main pool is a zero entry with sprinklers and a kiddie pool area. There is a place to get temporary tatoos and hair braids as well. Take some time to wander around thr resort and check out the decor, the icons, the music and some other fun stuff. You can Play twister on a big game board on the ground!! Way cool.

Have fun.

I don't think the main pool is considered zero entry. It has stairs that go into the pool, but not the zero entry where it slowly slopes down without the use of steps.

I do love the sprinklers though.
