Hello all. Yesterday around 4pm my family and I were on a bus going from Hollywood studios to Polynesian. As we were waiting to get on the bus and there was apparently this group of 14 who just finished a VIP tour who thought they were better than everyone else, they told us that there wasn’t enough space for us (there was enough space all the kids had seats and only a few guys stood me being one of them)

On the bus was fine, but after we got to the poly apparently this group decided that the scooters are suppose to get off first, and the cast member apparently thought so too, but don't they normally get off last? Basically one of the members in the party of 14 told me to wait until the ramp is out before leaving after their party, I told them I didn’t need the ramp and got off. After I left he apparently called me an ******* which i didn’t hear, but my wife did. I wear a kippa too so I'm at a heighten state of alert. Is this normal Disney behavior now?

I reported this to a cast member and I met with Disney security. I then followed up later but they didn't really do much or seem to care all that much. It was extremely off putting and ruined the magic and still is ruining the magic. I’m not really used to having strangers call me such vile names and Disneys response hasn’t really been great at all.

Wow, I’m sorry you went through that. While Disney usually strives to create a welcoming and magical environment, unfortunately, you can still run into rude guests from time to time. For what it’s worth, buses can be tricky. I believe typically, guests using scooters do get off first to allow for safe ramp deployment, but it’s not a hard rule. Regardless, no one deserves to be insulted, especially in such a family-oriented place. I hope your next experience restores some of that Disney magic.

Scooters get on first and off last as you need enough room to maneuver it without running over people's feet.
So NTAH for getting off the bus before the wheelchair since that's how its supposed to work.
Although this being your first post makes me feel like this is more for drama/attention...
I never really had a need to make an account before.

You met with Disney security cause your wife told you someone called you a name? What did you want/expect them to do? You need to let it go and move on.

ECV and wheelchairs are FOLO - First On, Last Off…so you’re not an AH for getting off the bus when you did. As far as the name calling, sometimes ya gotta be like Elsa and Let It Go or Taylor Swift and Shake It Off! But seriously, please don’t let some unknown person put a bad mojo on your vacation…

Yep, it was inappropriate and against Disney policy.
Sure it was inappropriate, but chances are, you’re going to come across all kinds of questionable/inappropriate behaviours in the parks throughout your days. Don’t let a single negative interaction with a stranger bother you. The magic comes from within you. And you need to be able to let things go or try to see things from another person’s perspective in order to feel it.

Anyways, let’s flip this around for a moment. The person who asked you to wait til the ramp was out before getting off, probably thought you did something inappropriate by getting off before the ramp was out.

So again. I ask, what did you want or expect security to do?

True - but what were you expecting Security to do? Find the guy then maybe arrest them, or ban them, or make them apologize? I know you didn’t ask for advice - but your gunna get some from me anyway (one of the perks of being old - you get to give out unsolicited wisdom)…don’t make more out of a random name calling episode than it warrants.

What gets on my nerves is how when the scooters board first their entire groups get on first too. We were first in line for the bus home from Epcot to WL this past January, but when the bus pulled up it loaded 2 scooters that had just pulled up to the line as the bus was pulling up, and they each had huge groups with them, and by the time we got on the bus we had to split up to sit. I get the scooters getting on first but why do their entire groups get on too, in front of people who’ve been patiently waiting? I know it’s petty, but it irritates me.

I get the frustration but how would you feel if you were part of the scooter group and half the party had to wait for the next bus?
You having to "split up" to sit doesn't seem like that big of a deal.
You could have chosen to stand next to each other if it was impotant to not split up within the bus.

Their groups load too to ensure the entire party arrives at the destination together. Separating them in many cases mean guests could be loaded on separate buses which Disney does not want to do.

I’m surprised that their 2 parties were so large that you could not find 2 seats together on the bus! Together they would need to have 30+ other guests and all of them sit separately in order for you not to have 2 seats together. We’ve been to Disney 30+ times and never encountered groups so large that they took the majority of seats on the bus. Your experience was an anomaly.

Why’s their party being together more important than mine? Why should we stand when we waited a long time and were first in line, for a group to just roll up at the last minute and get priority? Just my opinion.

They were all wearing some sort of matching tee shirts and were part of sone sort of a group. When they got on the bus they spread out instead of sitting together and many/most of them were quite large and took up more than one seat. Yes it’s the only time it’s ever happened to me too after a lifetime of visiting but it was annoying. Luckily they got off at FW where our bus stopped at first, so after that a bunch of seats opened up. This is the only negative instance I’ve ever had with the scooters on the bus, but it bothered me.

Thinking about this another way - what if the scooter parties were there early and a half empty bus rolls up that already has the limit of ECVs loaded - now the people on the ECVs and their party have to wait for another bus while others, who haven’t been waiting as long, can board….

See, sometimes life isn’t ‘fair’…but we’re supposed to be adults - so be an Elsa and not a Donald Duck….(I mean this generally, not you specifically).

That said, I’d hope that large parties would show some consideration and not hog all the seats on the bus - no matter if they’re with an ECV user or not. Same with any able bodied person on the bus, it’s just common curtesy to offer a seat (again, if you can) to someone who may need one.

You are not the a**hole here. Scooters get off last, it’s ridiculous that anybody would think it would be efficient for them to get off first. Just know you’re right, and you can’t control when another person acts like an a hole. It’s annoying, but try to forget about it and enjoy your vacation.

This is where I am. I'm not sure what you were hoping to have happen by reporting name calling.

And no, this has nothing to do with "Disney behavior", but simply someone who thought THEY knew the right "procedure" and you didn't. Or it was someone who felt they were entitled. Either way, I wouldn't let it bother me longer than it took to get inside the resort.

And ya know - and I don’t cause I am on an ECV and go solo so I don’t have to be concerned with any of the above - MAYBE the correct unload procedure IS to wait for the driver to at least lower the bus before you ‘hop’ off at the ramp door - NOT to let the ECVs off but because that step off can be pretty high and you can turn an ankle and then voila, someone tries to sue Disney.
