After much stress of going, not going, and going again, we ended up switching our ressie to the POP as he was having financial difficulties and we could not stay at the GF.
We stayed at Pop 12-16 to 12-18 and then switched to the Poly 12-18 to 12-21.
It was rather cool in Orlando that week. Actually, Monday the 20th was freezing! But it was still better than the temperature at home from what I hear. The crowds started coming in on Saturday but it was mainly the MK that was crowded. We went to the MVMCP on Friday night and although it was sold out the crowd was much more manageable than the rest of the stay.
We enjoyed the MVMCP but my youngest had a bathroom accident and we weren't able to stay very long. I will say this...if you are staying the week of xmas I wouldn't pay for the party because the shows and the parade were the exact same starting Saturday. There was even the snow on main street each evening.
So here are my thoughts about the resorts....
Check in at the Pop was smooth and there was no line. Our room was ready immediately which was nice. We stayed in the 50s building on the Tramp side. It wasn't far from the main building. The room was clean but very, very small.
I never thought it would matter to stay at a value after staying deluxe but it really made a difference to me staying in the smaller size room. We didn't care for the transportation either. It seemed out of sinc or something. There would be two busses back to back going to the MK and then there wouldn't be another one for well over 30-40 mins. We also didn't care for the bus stop at the MK being the farthest one down on the way out.
I would have been just as satisfied to stay there the whole stay but my exh hated it. So we checked out the GF but they didn't have any rooms for the rate that we originally had, so we decided on the Poly.
The Poly was very nice as it was this Sept. when we stayed there. I had heard so many reports that it was not decorated for the holidays very much but I thought it was beautiful. Actually, I thought the decorations were much better there than the Pop. We were in the building that starts with "A" (sorry can't remember the spelling or how to pronounce it) on the first floor facing the beach. Although it was a GV room we could see the beach right by Fiji and also a slight view of the castle from the patio.
We couldn't hear the noise from Luau Cove unless you were sitting outside of course, but the only thing I didn't like about this room was when people were walking down the path to Luau Cove they would stare into our room so we had to leave the curtains closed all the time.
Otherwise it was another fabulous stay at WDW. I don't know when we are going back. Hopefully next year sometime, but I don't want to go when it is hot and the times that it isn't it doesn't coincide with my nursing school schedule.
