Here it is. We are all on the Dining Plan...(regular one) I know it does not cover alcoholic drinks...If my husband orders beer...Can I use my Disney Dining Experience Card (Tables in Wonderland...can't get used to that) for his drinks and get 20% off? (just the drinks) ;)

Also, I think I read on here some place whereas the T-Rex restaurant will be accepting the "Tables in Wonderland" card for 20% off. Does anyone know if that is true or not? :confused3

Another thing...Aren't they supposed to be taking reservations beginning in January?

Yes, IIRC. e only did it once a couple of years go, but I don't know how the automatic 18% gratuity would work then.

Tables in Wonderland card will get you 10% at T-Rex, not 20% and yes, it is my understanding that they will start taking ressies in January.

Oh...so T-Rex wouldn't be included as the other restaurants are? I would get 10% off for having an AP or because I had the Tables of Wonderland card?
:confused3

No, it isn't included as the other restaurants are. It has the same provisions that Rainforest Cafe has. Now, that I think about it, it is the AP that gets you the discount at T-Rex, not the TIW cars, but I will have to check when I get home, I don't have my info here at work.

We used our DDP and TIW on our last trip, get ready for lots of paperwork. Yes, you can use them together, but you will get a slip for the DDp and a slip for TIW. The 18% will be added onto the TIW portion. Watch your recipts, we had some trouble with double dipping by resteraunts, but I truly believe iot is due to so much paperwork, not malice. Also tell them you are using both before you order.

Gald to hear about the 10% for T-Rex, I didn't know that. They are taking ressies as of 1/5, you have at call them directly.

How do you mean you used both your DDP and TIW together? You can't use TIW with the DDP, except for purchasing alcoholic beverages. You have already paid for the DDP, how can they discount it? That makes no sense :confused3 Now, I used TIW where DDP isn't accepted, but never together.

BTW, T-Rex and RFC DO NOT take the DDP. But Planet Hollywood will allow you to use the TIW discount and the $15 certificate from a package.

By together, she means at the same meal. We've done so many times and I completely agree about the paperwork....it's nuts. So much for being a green company.:confused3 Also each restaurant seems to make it's own rules about how to add the DDP tip to the receipts. Frustrating especially at CG where our server who was excellent in every other respect got testy as she misinterpreted what we meant when we told her we would be adding the tip at the end.

You can use the TiW for alcohol and also for appetizers if on the basic DDP as well as for anyone at your table not on the DDP.

We did it in August and November with DDP and TWL.

We paid for the food with our DDp, so that was on one bill. Our drinks/ appetizers were on another. They then ran that thru for the % off (sometimes had to find a manager to run it) and then it added in the gratuity.

So we had to tip for the DDP amount and pay for our tables in wonderland amount (which already had the tip on it) . It was alot of paper sorting. I would do it again (obviously we did in November) but be prepared to wait a bit for your bill.

We also told our servers when they came to take our drink orders that we had both.

That is exactly what I meant! Glad to hear I wasn't the only person who didn't like the paperwork!:rotfl:

I hope we won't be holding up everybody else at our table because my husband has a few drinks....:headache: He would probably be the only one out of nine of us...

When I called up a few months back to make our dinner reservations, I asked the CM about the T-Rex restaurant, then...and he actually told me it would be included on the Dning Plan...(I felt he was mistaken even back then)...but, then I thought I had read about the discount for T- Rex because I remember e-mailing it to my sister...I just can't find it any more...but, I thought it was 20%. But, you are right, if you said it was 10% with an AP. Rain Forrest gives the 10% for just the AP, doesn't it? Or did I pay to "join" something in order to get a discount....Yikes! I can't remember ANYTHING any more! :scared1: Plus, it seems things keep changing...:)

We have and use TIW and love it. Have used this for several years.

What is the benefit of having and using both DDP and TIW? Considering you pay for the TIW, wouldn't it be beneficial to just use that and not pay more to get the DDP? It's like you are paying twice to use both cards. Hope someone can shed some lght on this for me.

I haven't renewed my card yet for the dining discount...just my AP. We (nine of us) are using the Dining Plan package this year with the rooms because it was such a good deal and easier. Our first night at Disney, however, we would not be using the Dining Plan for our dinner...(we are using that credit for a breakfast at Chef Mickey's later on in the week) so, because I will be paying for 7 of us out of the 9 our first night...Probably, at the T-Rex, I was hoping to get some kind of discount there...And, because my husband is a beer drinker and the drinks aren't included in the Dining Plan..I wondered if it would be worth renewing for that meal and all of his beer the remainder of the week... The Dining Plan is rather new to me..(My sister, niece and I used it in October) as we always used the TIW discouont card before...So many options now...

You can get the discount at T-Rex with the AP or you can pay for the Safari Club and get Front of the line access to both T-Rex and RFC, plus food and shopping discounts, points and rewards.

I like the TIW card for shorter trips, since we don't care for DDP for just a long weekend. But, now that they are going to have the QS dining plan, I don't know if I will renew my TIW card.

For us we had free dining the first time in August when I got the Aps and the card. I paid $60 knowing for our trip in November is would be savine me $. Plus Dh likes drinks and appetizers with his meals. Then I ended up with a pin for free dining in November.

I would not pay $60 for the card and pay for dining, that defeats the $ of the card in my mind. We fell into the 2nd free dining and had I know I might not have paid for the card. But we are going for Free dining a week earlier this year so my card will still be good. So 3 trips worth of drinks/ appetizers for the $60 card I am sure we have come out ahead on that one.

We love the TiW card. It makes much more sense for us to just get the TiW card and skip the dining plan. We like appetizers with our meals and most times don't order dessert. If we do order dessert, we'll order 1 or 2 to split between the 4 of us. Plus, DH and I like to have an adult beverage with most evening meals, so the discount applies to those as well. The other thing we run into is that our DD13 isn't a huge eater and likes to share off of our plates rather than order her own meal. Buying the dining plan for her just doesn't make sense. Yes, we could use the extra credits for Signature Dining locations, but that doesn't work well for us either.

If we get good service, I really don't mind the 18% gratuity added automatically. Having it automatic saves me the work in the end. If we were to have truly terribly service, I would take the issue up with the restaurant manager to have it reduced. Thankfully, that hasn't happened to us. For truly great service, I have even added on to the automatic gratuity. On our last trip we had a wonderful server at Citricos and she deserved the extra amount. ::MinnieMo
