We are taking the Land/Sea package sailing on the Wonder for a three day starting Dec. 2. I got a letter in the mail today stating that we will be leaving Nassau at 7:00pm (as opposed to the usual later time). There was no explanation...anybody know why DCL does this?

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question...I just wanted to tell you that you are in for a fantastic trip!! Even leaving Nassau a bit earlier - you won't even notice. We did the same land/sea package in May of this year and dream daily that we are back on the Wonder. It is a fantastic journey that doesn't last nearly long enough so enjoy!;)

Thanks MB Minniegirl, this is going to be my fourth cruise and we are extremely excited....We don't mind leaving Nassau early but were just curious if any one had heard of this before. :earsboy:

They never leave at the same time all the time. For example this past week we left Nassau at 2 in the morning. Have no idea why.

I also received a letter from DCL yesterday regarding departure time from Nassau on our Aug. 19 Wonder cruise. We will be departing Nassau at 7:30 PM.

The letter states, "This change will allow us to take our Tropical Deck Party out to sea, where we can celebrate this popular event under starlit skies and ocean breezes."

No problem here as we planned to be on the ship much earlier than that anyway but I do wonder why they changed it.

NASSAU DEPARTURE
Beginning in 8/19/04 and until 2/20/05, the Disney Wonder three night cruise will depart Nassau at 7:30pm in order to better facilitate the popular Tropical Deck Party.

I noticed the above statement in the Cruise News section right in the Disney Cruise Line link at the top of the dis boards.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for pointing that out, Tammi!:D I'm glad I knew about this ahead of time. I book my excursions this Friday!

I don't really understand the change myself. We were talking to a cruise member and she mentioned that the distance between Nassau and Castaway Cay was not very far at all. We left port at about 11pm (during the Tropical Deck party) and the ship moved very slowly through the night. If they're now talking about leaving port at 7:30pm, I imagine they'll be moving at a snails pace or else arrive at Castaway Cay in the wee hours of the morning.

I know that the Teen Junkaroo Jam didn't leave until 7pm, so I'm wondering if they decided to cancel it or offer a day trip instead. I stayed on the ship most of the time with my DD, but I know the others in our group had a great time being able to explore Nassau and do an excursion. I'm not an experienced cruiser, but I would prefer to stay in port longer. DH and I are planning a parents only cruise in January and we were going to go over to the Atlantis for dinner and the casino. I guess it will have to be lunch now.

There are houses just across from the ship in Nassau....maybe they had complaints about the noise of the deck party.

Both times we were in Nassau, the Junkanoo was cancelled, and they did some type of party for the teens onboard the ship.
