today, i went to get my alterations done. a tuxedo shop in passaic, NJ has always been sending me catalogs and flyers for quite some time. one day, they sent me a flyer about getting $20 off alterations if your dress was purchased at david's bridal. i called them up one day and i spoke to a manager. he gave me an estimate of $45 to $75 dollars. so, i went today with my future mother-in-law to get her dress done, too. the tailor that's doing my dress has been with them for 30 years, as it said so on the flyer. she was really nice. she is even going to make a little thing on the back of my dress to hook the back up for when it comes time for dancing at the reception. the original price was $110 but with the $20, it came out to $90 even. i knew it would cost a little more because of the thing she's putting on the back. i wanted that anyway. i don't want my little train dragging all over the dance floor and i don't want to hold it up. also, i didn't want everyone trying to pin it for me and poke lots of holes in my dress. my future mother-in-law dress alterations were originally $45 and with the $20 taken off, it came out to $25!! i was really excited that she got that price for her alterations. well, her dress is just a gown with one layer compared to my dress, which is a bridal gown and has about three layers. i also took my mickey jewelry with me to try on with the dress and it looked lovely. i was so happy with my choice for the jewelry. i'll get a picture of it to show you guys.

despite all the rain we've been getting today, even right now as we speak, today's been a good day. my dress won't be done until after rob's birthday, august 7, but i'm in no rush because the wedding isn't until the end of september. i just wanted to get my alterations done as soon as possible so it'll be one less big thing to worry about.

oh hey, do you guys think $90 for my alterations is a decent price? the only alterations that had to be done was hemming, the same went for my future mother-in-law dress. i'm just curious.

I think $90 is a great price, for my alterations I paid more than that for shortening my dress, and that was almost 8 years ago!
